Lexus GX 460 & 470 owner's thread

I've done the fly n buy a couple of times... it's fun! Just have AAA and a good credit card for emergencies, and don't be afraid to walk away if the seller pulls some shenanigans.

True that.
That's how I got my 80; flew from Virginia down to Florida.
Has been a great vehicle so far (going on ~10 years now), but... it's still a '95.
Hence looking at the 470/460. :-/

I gather used options have really dried up in the past 2 years. We got an 09 from a Land Rover dealer complete with a warranty that just paid for a new OEM front axle. It was Lexus serviced (you can look this up on Lexus site with VIN) and 46k miles or so. Appeared to me it had been a grocery getter like so many. We like the 470s roomier cabin, manual transfer case shifter, removable third row seats and better view out the windshield.

Another happy GX owner here. Purchased mine from Porsche dealer a few years ago. One owner trade in. Was the wife's but sold my Tacoma do to lack of power and bought the wife a RX330. GX is my driver now. No complaints and starting to set it up for more adventure driving. No serious mods, just winch and added accessories for remote travel. I have been a offroad jeeper and have atv's and utv's. My wife and I did a 3000 mile road trip from Washington down through Idaho and Utah last summer living out of the car and the RTT.

It's awesome to see this group getting larger! I knew there had to be a better way for GX owners to connect than being stuck between the 4runner & Land Cruiser forums...

They are locally. I looked for 2 months or so.

Ok, so if anyone really wants to know... I just grabbed the info for a random year. 2007.

Not like the debate will end, but it will make liars out of a lot of people. A cursory glance at the 2019 specs show the 4Runner is wider and longer, but the GX is taller and heavier.

Dimensions/Weights, followed by the Lexus GX470, then the Toyota 4Runner Limited V8.

Please don't perpetuate the cycle, there are plenty of places to review the similar specs between all kinds of different vehicles. 4runners Tacoma land cruisers & FJ cruisers are all fantastic vehicles but this is not the thread for those conversations.

So I finally flew into Houston to pick up my GX. Thankfully it was everything it was represented to be. 116000 miles with full service records. This lot is getting a lot of trade ins from the local Lexus dealer. Drove to Lafayette LA last night and got back home about 2 today. Drove awesome and I got just over 18 mpg coming back. Now I have a room full of wheels, coilovers, springs and shocks to install when I get the time!!

I run the OEM Lexus bars, which are plenty to carry skis or a cargo box & are really well engineered parts. I think there are a few other companies making real racks for them like frontrunner, but can't say I've seen them in person

Which racks are you GX guys running? I see SSO and Prinsu.
OEM cross bars here. I had a rack on my last GX and it really wasn't necessary for what I use it for.
