Lifted MKV Golf

You might wanna try swapping over to stock sport wagon struts, and see what happens
I have no issues with my stock jetta struts and the lift springs, even on rutted out fireroads, the bilsten hd struts might be valved differently for a stiffed ride,

This guy is on all stock shocks and struts and has no issues with his car

Thanks a lot! That's exactly the confirmation I wanted. I don't have the HD struts, it's the Bilstein Touring for Tiguan. But I think the valving intended for a Tiguan is not appropriate for a Jetta. I initially looked into Tiguan struts because my Jetta struts were totally worn out and I thought it was better that they were longer. With that being said, I think I should just revert to Jetta struts. I found those Bilstein oem replacements:

How does that sound?

They look good,Here's even more options http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,3175,parttype,7584,http://www.germanautoparts.com/productdisplay/60691
I would stick with bilsten or Sachs which is oem,you could also find someone selling their stock suspension on vw vortex for like $100

Whats crazy about the H&R Tig lift springs is people that actually put them on tiguan ,have issues and It gives very little lift, they seem to work much better for jetta's and rabbits,Tiguan's are not that great off-road either, read here http://www.mytiguan.com/index.php?/topic/1230-hr-lift-springs/

Good luck,Car looks great,any more plans(roof rack,lights,etc..)

Yes, I had read that thread and I thought my issue was actually theirs, but worst! Anyways, yes I have a couple more plans once I get the front end working well. I was thinking of a roof rack but I came onto those roof top tents recently which I really dig. I'll see if budget allows it, but going camping is definitely one of the things I want to accomplish with the car. I also want to plastidip all of the chrome. I'd like to add a light bar on the front but it will have to be custom.

The Easter weekend was the perfect occasion to keep the Sportwagen project going! Plastidipped the front end, cleaned up the car and installed roof rack bars! Could not help it and went for a little photoshoot!

i did a little snooping around and noticed that Bilstein has other Tiguan struts that might be worth looking into they were listed on O'reiley auto part website. they were listed at $109 each. but did not show them in stock. i think I'll try to order them and try them out. i could use an extra 1 1/2 inch of lift. oh by the way. that clunk in the front suspension has disappeared. I hope that the clunk was only the suspension settling. it seems all good now. i did order the Jeep spring spacers and bump stop spacers for the rear. just waiting for them to be delivered. i hope to have the front struts soon. i will take before and after pictures if anyone is interested.

Btw, those are the exact Tiguan Bilstein struts I have and they don't seem to be valved properly as I get issues. I will change them for the MK5 ones as you're all saying you have a nice ride with them. If you'd like to try them out, mines will be for sale soon! Hehe :D I used the Tiguan rear ones too (19-170732) but those seem to behave properly.

What kind of clunk were you getting and how often?

I also wanted to know, are your sway bars connected?

Yea,Still have my sway bars connected, and I just ordered some procomp shocks for the rear,
No issues with anything, aside from needing a new dogbone mount

Wagon looks great with roofbars

How do you like the BFG M/T tires,How noisy are they? thinking about upgrading from the a/t's soon,But worried about noise for long trips:beer::beer::beer::beer:

The mud tires are fine. More noise can be heard, that's for sure, but it doesn't bother me. It's not an annoying noise to my ears. The drawback is probably the gas mileage but I can't compare with A/Ts, so I don't know if you have the same degradation.

As for my issue, it's becoming complicated to set on a resolution path. I read in another thread that a guy with a sportwagen like me had the same issue with lift front spring and stock jetta struts. It seems to be a gamble at this point. That guy replaced the front lift springs by the stock Tiguan springs and now everything is alright. But the tradeoff if giving up a lot of front lift, or using spacers. I don't know exactly what I'm gonna do...

Does anyone know the largest size tire you can fit without doing the lift? I've always like the look of larger tires, but its not really in my budget to do the lift.

I love the plasti-dipped grill! I have the same generation Jetta and think I'll do the same thing. Mine's not an expo rig though, strictly for long distance commuting, so it will stay closer to the ground :ylsmoke:
