Little Guy

I saw a little guy on display at our local mall this weekend. It was locked so I could only look at the outside. After seeing Adventure trailers tear drop before this one, i was not impressed. For normal people camping it is probably a great rig but even the moderate stuff we would go on, there is a lot left to be desired. i was really thinking that things would be made right for you. Good luck with getting the tent.

I dropped the trailer at Execuhitch in Roswell at lunch and just got a call from Ben.
The one brake was hooked up; the other's wire was too short and had pulled free "during articulation".
:Wow1:
Neither was working though and the only articulation that the trailer has seen was running around on the little hills behind my house when I took the pictures in this thread. The rest of the use has been total street.

Ben says they're as good as they're going to get.

I'd love to have my money back at this point and start over. It's just a sour feeling.

Bill, makes me sad to read this.

No, he probably won't. But when you have payed someone to do a job, and they don't follow through it plain sucks. My father and brother are both attorneys, and it seems that a lot of the time a simple letter on what we call company letterhead usually gets their attention. I think that Chris knowing that you won't stand for the crap he sold you and that he is facing legal action will get him to correct his wrongs. If not, let him have it.

The guys at Execuhitch are mostly all from South Africa; I was having a blast talking with them after work.
Then a guy drove up in a BMW and I thought, "I know that dude, but where...?"...

It was Conqueror Dean, the guy that we all bought our Conquerors from. He works there and the site used to be his old Saturn dealership.
So we caught up quite a bit; it was good to see him.

The shop there is a manufacturing facility for their product; they can build almost anything there though with their cnc gizmos. Stumpy would love the place.

Ben got the brakes working great. Opened up the harness and got rid of the bad crimps, re-attached the terminals at the wheels, looped enough wire to follow the wheels through a complete range of motion. Controller is set at 4.5 and the brakes will get stronger as they break in.

Chris emailed and is setting up a tent today to make sure it's good; we should get it last minute...

He's also stated that he and his crew will address the other matters on a case by case basis starting with a meeting today.

There's only so much he can do from Ohio though. The Execuhitch shop could fix a few things and I hope that's his plan. The fenders would be a good start...

I was just about to tell you that. When I first hooked up my brakes, they didn't do much at all set at 9.9. After a few thousand mile break in, I now have the Gain set at about 6 and they will lock up.

I think trailer brakes require a long break-in probably because the tollerances on them are pretty loose, so it takes a while for the shoes to wear in square with the drum.

So we had a great roadtrip with it.

For the first 9 days we hopped around and the batteries charged off the truck. Then we got to Palo Duro Canyon and they had electric there; we plugged-in so we could run the Fantastic Fan a bit and try to stay cool.
After a while, this is what the charger started to do:

Still waiting to hear back from Chris on this as well as the charger manufacturer.
It's an Elixir EXL-20. I'm afraid it might be too wimpy for the pair of Optimas.
If you Google that model, you can't find a single kind word about the product. Everybody replaces them with something else.

There's an idea; bet you know what not to do on the build now...

Like levelers. Put them in a location where they can reach the ground and work.
