Full of win!

I got a giggle out of that one, too :)

Water proof the BCM

I have two plans as far as the BeCM is concerned to either:
- seal it in a box with liquid cooling (the way they design fancy PC's)
- re-locate the box to someplace better than under the passenger seat

Disconnect the BCM from the ECU "incase of failure the truck will still run"

I would use a megasquirt set up ... that way you can run two set ups and have either the mega squirt do the job or have it

Springs are still working great as well as my shocks. Amazing how i didn't have to buy some poser crap to feel cool and look cool. That's about the extent of your work. I guess working on a P38, you might actually have to make something, instead of bolting it on.

Expedition Portal's List of Cool Parts So I can Be Part of the Coolness:

  • Bloated Parts Budget
  • Roof Rack
    • Its just so cool, even though I'll never carry anything up there.
    • Where else would I mount my thousands of dollars of lights?
  • *HAM Radio
  • Electric Fridge
    • because my beer won't be as cool in a cooler with ice.
  • GPS because back East its easy to get lost on the 1 mile trail system.
  • Gotta be a Warn winch or I'm not going to be cool
  • Gotta get a TDI engine because the cost of the swap will never pay for itself, but its cool
  • 5 batteries because all my roof lights will suck out my juice.
  • 5' of lift because its cool
  • Gotta be Terrafirma because its cool and everyone else is doing it.
  • ARB Bumper's, because:
    • They are just so cool and Randy has one.
    • I wouldn't know how to use a welder if I tried.
  • Gotta get the special Lug Nuts to go with my Poser Steel wheels.
    • The aluminum ones will just blow up the second I take them on that dirt road I've been wanting to hit.
    • Now I can understand it if you have 18" wheels
  • Got my highlift jack, its strapped to my roof rack because I couldn't really used it on these plastic bumpers.
  • How many Pelican cases can I fit on my roof rack, so at least it looks like I use it?
  • Better get my ladder so I can get on my rack for my empty gas cans and empty pelican cases when I get off my expedition on that off road park.
  • I got my 5 jerry cans because that 1 mile trail and road trip will use up my 24 gallons of gas once I switch on all my Lights and Fridge
  • I got my laptop mounted to my dash, I'm cool now right?
  • We hit 1 mile today, I'm knackered lets deploy the roof top tent so I look cool. And then bust out the cooking stuff even though there's a McDonalds a mile away.
  • Don't forget the $1000 safari chairs either or the table.
  • If I don't get all this crap there is now way I can every use my vehicle off road. I'll never fit in, and I'll just die.

There is probably some other Elitist crap I forgot in here to be cool. I'm sure you can let me know. Besides, I haven't put almost 10000 miles on my vehicle in the last year of ownership. It hasn't even blown up because it doesn't have all the crap on it.

I'm gonna lock up the transfer case.
Apparently you know nothing about the case. Unless you plan on welding up the differential and the Viscous Coupler there is no way to lock up the transfercase. And if you do that, you'll throw it out of balance anyway. Good luck. But I'll refer you back to my list above about the lack of fabrication or welding skills.

And before you do anything, make sure you don't change out the transmission and forget to put some fluid back in it before you take it on a drive.

And if you do work on the transfercase, make sure you put ATF in it as well.

They both use Dextron III just so you know and don't confused. Would you like me to send you a PM about the Dextron so you don't forget again?

If you want to do something worthwhile, build a LT230 with a locking center diff, to fit in the P38 without having to swap out differentials. Build an adapter to clock the case for a RR. I might actually buy one of those.

That is a good idea but I am hoping to keep it on the cheap. Some how trick the Ecu into thinking the BeCM is happy. This may be delusional but Ill try just the same. maybe I can use a D2 ecu.

I am doing some of that tricking the ECU and BeCM stuff myself right now. I'll let you know the results by the end of the week

The parts truck is sitting at about a 5in lift.

What's the specifics? Why is it a parts truck? Wouldnt it be easier to use the parts rig as your base vehicle?

At the dealership I work at we have a p38 as our parts runner. It's a trooper. It's been lifted about 4 inches, has the SD rack, factory winch mount and the obligatory warn winch. it's been through a few diffs and a couple of engines (one due to engine fire, one hydro locked) but its never had becm trouble or any major electrical issues

P38 rocks

I love the P38. Can't wait to see the build-up. I am planning on keeping the EAS (maybe against better judgement) but have a bypass kit and will be installing GenIII airsprings for an extra 2 inches of lift this fall. The P38 doesn't get the respect it deserves. It is quite capable and not as 'unreliable' as most think. Wish I could make it to the Expo, maybe next year.

Here are a few pics from last year:

Near Arches NP:
The silver P38 is mine with SD rack and the black one has a custom rack.

Get over it.

Heres how I know youre full of **** and know nothing about what youre talking about. I agree with the sentiment 100% that this site is polluted with superfluous crap that is seen as "essential" gladly supplied by "outfitters." Out of all suppliers on this site, Justin supplies more than just accessories, he also supplies parts. That shows that he actually is in the Land Rover community to make it better for their owners. Not to mention that he hosts/ sponsors off road events (like ROTR and not marketing gatherings in the middle of nowhere) and legit off road trips (EE) that test the drivers and their trucks.
