M100 Axle/Hub Help Please

Well I now know the LH lugs on my M100 are reverse threads but unfortunately I found this out after destroying the nuts using a conventional lug removal socket. Now I am trying to figure out my options. I got a quote on a Dexter axle and they are wanting $650-700 and while it would be nice to have a new setup I want to explore rebuilding what I have. Here's where I am stuck:

1. Can I get the wheel and hub off now just but removing the axle nut, lockwasher, and adjusting nut?
2. How difficult would it be to source a replacement drum/hub/wheel? I believe what I have is stock but I haven't seen those pop up in my parts searches. Or, could i cut off the heads of the lugs from inside the hub and just replace those?

I feel like it would be so much easier if I could get this all apart and replaced/rebuilt with a stock setup. My intentions are not for heavy duty trail use so I believe that means the stock axle would be sufficient.

Thank you for your help! Feel pretty dumb putting myself in this position.

Yes you should be able to disassemble it as described. Traditional trailer stuff has the hub and drum integrated as one part while your military is a little different. The hub and drum are two separate pieces. See if you can find an exploded diagram for either the trailer or a WWII Jeep front, that will show you how it works.

All the parts you need are still available from restoration sources and it's okay to swap some right hand side lug studs into the left hub so everything is right hand thread if that makes it easier. Pretty sure they just press in like any other lug stud so just drive out the mangled studs. As long as you didn't damage the hub by say spinning the studs in their shoulder bores everything should be fine. If you did, it isn't necessarily the end of the world. Depending on the severity there are a couple of reasonable shade-tree mechanic solutions.

Stock military trailer bits are plenty strong. If you aren't changing to get a different width, lug pattern or brakes there's absolutely nothing wrong with restoring what's there.

Studs are normally easily replaced. I take it you used an impact driver with that conventional lug removal socket....
I just ordered a new 3500# idler axle with a custom width to bolt to my existing springs for $207.00. Studs included.
