Here are the completed cargo storage areas.

Rear, which will hold the two side-tables on the outsides of the kitchen area.

.
Passenger side door to the front storage area (4' X 4' X 11"), there is a storage access door on both sides of the trailer. This will be insulated to help the sleeping area keep some warmth.

Here is one of the completed wheel chock storage areas (immediately to the front of the wheel-well on both sides.

Here is the water tank area. This is a 23 gallon water tank. The metal object on top (with the wires coming from it), by the inspection access is the water gauge sensor.

The water pump lies in the back, curbside, under where the refrigerator will sit. There will be access under the fridge in case of need to get to the pump or the electrical void behind the fridge.

Here is the electrical control area. This will house two deep-cycle batteries in addition to all the charging and distribution systems.

Here are the electrical controls: underneath is the 110 volt shoreline charger; on top (clockwise from the upper right) is the main power switch from the battery, the 100 amp circuit breaker (from the batteries), the Blue Sea fuse block, and the Morningstar solar charge controller.

Here is the front of the trailer showing the wiring harnesses coming from the trailer (on the left is the trailer light harness, the right is the charger cable from the tow-vehicle to the trailer batteries).

That is one big plug! It's the Anderson plug for the tow-vehicle charging.

Yes, very nice progress! Love the battery storage location, much better than in the tongue box like ours. Our next trailer will have a similar setup for the water tank/electrical, that is, if you don't mind us stealing your design, lol.

If for some reason the water tank leaks, is the electrical compartment significantly sealed up to prevent any leakage? j/w

Jim, with the amount of stuff I've stolen of your design, it would simply be re-paying a debt! Take all you want.

The water area is sealed from the other areas. I'm very seriously thinking about adding a couple scupper drains just to give me that extra insurance though.

I am super impressed with your solutions and design. I would endorse the idea of scupper drains if I understand the term. Just in case you get some water in the water tank area. From a boating friend, advice to ensure a larger access hatch for the occasional cleaning, flush. Also expanded steel mesh ahead of fenders will act as a sieve, and you will be carrying stones of a particular size. These suggestions are intended with no criticism whatsoever. It's a really exquisite project. Congratulations.

Thanks for the input, I will put the drain scuppers in now (what do they say, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure?"). I wish I could have gone with a larger access hatch for the tank, but that was the largest the tank manufacturer had.

Making great progress! Just an observation but I would be concerned about the ratchet straps holding the water tank failing or stretching and allowing the tank to smash around in the compartment? I love the amount of thought in your build and the input from all to make the design and build the best it can be. Keep up the good work!

It's hard to see, but there are blocks screwed into the floor around the tank that stop any lateral movement of the tank. The only thing the straps stop are vertical movement. I'm pretty comfortable with two 1500lb rated straps holding 275lbs of water tank down.

Thanks for the comments though, it's great to have all you folks helping to make this trailer the best I can get it.

No need for concern: Our 40 gallon tank is strapped down, it doesn't move, and regular strap checks show no stretching (not enough to wiggle the tank).

Of course, that's only 6000 miles of use, so who knows what the future holds....

Matthew,

MuTTT is a totally impressive build. I took note that you are using stock JK wheels. I'm currently rebuilding an M101 and plan on using AEV Pintler wheels. What axel did you use? The JK and Pintler wheels are hub centric and will not fit on a Dexter axel without a spacer.

What is your axel and wheel setup?

Thanks

Thanks for the compliment!

I am using a 3500lb axle from www.Etrailer.com with 1 1/2" spacers. The axle is 5 X 4.5" because the Libby uses TJ spacing. The axle was 61" length (hub face to hub face) with there being 48" wheel well to wheel well. The wheel wells are 12" wide and the 245/75R16 on Stock TJ Rubicon Moabs (16" X 8") sit nicely with about 1.25" clearance on the inside and are just flush with the outside of the well.
