May be pulling the trigger on a 2010-2011 4Runner Trail Edition

Thanks for the input Character zero.

Going on Monday to a dealership to test drive one and talk about the 2k incentive chmura mentioned above. After reading some reviews it seems that lots of people arent very happy with the interior and how its bare with not much luxury? Any input on that? I don't mind it but I may want to look for an SR5 with some luxury and maybe an E locker on it...but then i wont have the sweet look of the Trail. Hmmm. Cant wait to test drive both of them to see what I like!

Thanks for everyones input! I appreciate it!

Actually, I disagree with the lack of luxury. The TE is a bit different a beast as the seats aren't leather, but still...the level of fit & finish in my 2010 TE and the wife's 2013 loaded SR5 are above and beyond my previous vehicles (and my 05 Limited Tundra). Everything works, works well and feels very nice. The little touches like reclining rear seats, rear cargo electrical outlet, etc are very nice, but overall they feel luxurious in my opinion.

Trying to keep my dog/bike in the back seemed like a disservice to how nice the vehicle was overall! It almost felt too nice for my intended purpose.

I knew I was going to get a 4Runner, but I was on the fence about which model. I was seriously considering the Limited over the TE because of several amenities, namely leather and seat heaters. But the KDSS and other traction options were not available on the Limited. I decided it would be easier, and less expensive to add leather and heat than add KDSS and other stuff.

With under a thousand miles on the truck I pulled the interior out and swapped to leather and heat. Katskins. Now I have the 4Runner I wanted.

Went to a dealer yesterday and test drove it. LOVED IT. The interior was much more impressive than I had anticipated it being. Everything seemed nice and tight. Ride was quiet and I liked all the visibility.

Also, looked at an FJC. Sat in it and very quickly got out...doesnt even compare to the TE.

I drove a 13 TE the dealer is trying to get off the lot. Sticker price was 41k but the discount price was $36,811. Unfortunately, that is about 6k more than I can afford. I have found a few used ones at CarMax and AutoTrader with 40k miles on it for about $30k which is just about my top dollar I will spend right now. I'm supposed to be getting a nice pay bump and promotion at the new year so maybe then I will be able to afford one.

Until then, I will continue to research the heck out of them and wait till I can afford one!

Saw that...My price range is most likely going to 27-30k so if you're willing to entertain that offer we migth be able to work something out.

Also, Im not planning on actually purchasing one till late Jan/early feb so...

Me too. I wish it would sell. I am getting ready to have two truck payments so it might start to get hairy for a month or two but some will buy it when the want a great truck.

I been looking for a used trail. Prices are just crazy... like 1st gen DC tacos.

One dealer in Utah has 2011 with 97.8k miles and wants $29,995. Another dealer in Denver has a 2012 with 18k miles and wants $32,981 so for $3k you get a rig with 80k less miles..huh??

300 mile search I found 3 used trails :(

I will sell you mine and I can arrange shipping. My only issue is I am leaving the country and will not be back until after the holidays. I will have access to mail and phone if anyone is interested.

Ridiculous right? I went to a dealer in San Diego and they had a fully loaded 2013 TE with 51 miles for $36,811...that seemed like a deal to me but still out of my price range.

I've been thinking about looking at a non TE and just doing a few after market mods to make it more trail worthy.

Does anyone know if non TE's came with a locker?

Now that I've actually looked into it...the price will be about the same. Dang these cars hold their value pretty damn well.

I know they hold value but damn...so hard to find out here. You would think a 2010 would be 26-29K by now but not unless it has 100K miles on it. Like you...i cant afford (well i wont pay is more like it, i can afford it) a $36K rig. Kinda like the JKU now tipping the bank at $39-43K new.. just crazy.
