May be pulling the trigger on a 2010-2011 4Runner Trail Edition

Bump:

I'm going with a used T4R TE, How many miles are too many miles you think? I see some on CL with 80k miles for $25k.

I have been looking at under 50k for around $27k-32k. For a 2010-2013 used car, I feel thats a safe amount to be the max.

Opinions?

Yeah, I think records of services and overall condition of the vehicle should play the biggest factor. 50k miles isn't squat for a Toyota. Best of luck and I look forward to the build ;)

Dang Marshal you got a screamin deal! I'd love to find a deal like that. They're all in the 30k range!

fwiw, you can run nation-wide searches on carguru - that is the site where I've found and sold my last two trucks.
Hell the 2010 Salsa Red T4R TE showed up on carguru before they even knew they had it in their system - it hadn't even made it through the clean up and detail bay.

gives a pretty good search function, as well as sort relative to market price.

Ok, I have another question. While driving to my parents house for a BBQ this weekend it dawned on me that I will be leaving my lovely and very expensive sound system I currently have in my truck when I get a TE. I love music. I always have music on, I play the Guitar and the Drums and I love to sing and have been a singer in a few bands. I currently am a whistler in a band. My sole job in the band is to whistle...kinda funny if you ask me.

So, how is the sound system in a TE? My truck is not worth much as it is so I have thought about taking my amps, subs, etc out of my truck and swapping them in to the TE. Thought?

Thanks!

I'd swap them out if you enjoys music that much. The factory speakers are sufficient for me but i think you'd want something more...especially since you already have all the stuff in your current truck. Just my .02.

If you're happy with your current set up in the F150, keep it. Chances are the factory doesn't sound as good as your kit. If you part with your current sound system and you find the TE lacking, you'll have to spend money on sound instead of lift, tires, bumpers, winch, sliders, fridge, skids, snorkel, rtt, awning, aux gas tank, dual battery system, drawers, maxtrax, roof rack, etc.

hahahaha thanks.

The list of mods I "want" to do go on for a long while thats for sure. I have about a grand in my current set up and would hate to have to do that all over again. My only problem is that my truck only uses a 5 channel amp...one for power and the others for the 4 speakers. I assume a T4R has 7 speakers? 2 front, 2 mid and 2 rear? So if the TE has 7 speakers Id have to get a new amp anyways and thats the most expensive part of the whole set up... However, this does allow me to redo the sound setup.. there are a few things I have been wanting to change...blah

I tell you, I stress over making the right decision with getting a TE more than I stress about work. Good news bad news I guess.

Thanks.

Almost did it yesterday, Came across this little gem at a dealer right down the street from me.

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?ownerId=64873327&searchRadius=0&listingId=373595967

I got them down to 31k plus fees for it.... Very hard decision. It currently has a set of brand new BFG AT's, It has a 3 inch? toytec lift in the front and some bilstein shocks in the back. I believe its the non KDSS version but it did hav navigation which is a big deal for me becaue Ive never had it before so why not?? It was incredibly clean also which was nice and it has some nerf step bars...reason I said no is because it had 52xxx miles on it. I set my limit at 30k with under 40xxx on the odo. After taxes/fees I'd still be in the 33k-34k and I'd be over my mileage limit.

It hurt to turn it down because I know some sucker will come by and buy it for 31-32 but oh well. Wasn't right for me. I feel with that many miles I shouldnt pay more than 29k out the door.

Thoughts?

Good to know. Thanks Marshal.

It was actually pretty funny. The salesman I was with was an awesome guy and super cool, but, he had no idea what he was talking about. His HP and Torque numbers were pretty off. He didnt know what the controls for the locker were/meant. He didnt even know about the sliding rear cargo try. I have done so much research on these things that I feel I know a lot. The dealer had it listed as an SR5 also, not a TE.

I also had a nice little ******** chat with myself as far as paying the extra $$ because of the lift, BRAND NEW tires and the "rock sliders" (as the salesman said) Which are things I plan on doing either way...but again, the mileage killed it.

I'm way past when I said I was going to buy, but, the right one hasnt come to me yet... The search continues.
