May be pulling the trigger on a 2010-2011 4Runner Trail Edition

My least favorite thing about the 4R is the lack in power...I'm used to more cylinders and more HP.

It has quite a bit more peak HP than a '98 4.6L in an F150, but I do get that the Ford V8 may handle trailor towing duty better. With the gearing on the 4R, I've never wanted more power, I have just needed to stab the throttle harder in the mountains and learn to live with high RPMs. My last vehicle was an FZJ80, so I may be a bit easy to please...

It definitely does... I won't deny that. I just thought there would be more umpf. Maybe it's the gearing. But I had to really punch it for the gears to down shift.

I concur, the throttle mapping and transmission shift schedules are a bit...sleepy, but I have personally gotten used to it.

Haha, I just came across this thread for the first time.

I hear the Gen 7 4 Runners are going to be awesome SDDriver. You should start thinking about getting one. :)

hahaha maybe I should delete this thread and start a new one

I think everyone here wants you to buy one already! The 4runnner is one of the few cars you can buy without much worry. Meaning that it's trouble free and one of the most reliable cars out there.
