thanks. it's about as good as you can do with flux core. i really need to convert to gas.

actually flux core is more forgiving then solid wire is. getting a good weld both penetration and looks is all about knowing how to set your welder and how to run the wire. depending on the amperage of your welder wouldnt recomend solid wire as flux core will give you better penetration. its possible to run gas with flux core as well. there is inner shield flux core which you dont run any gas with and there is dual shield flux core which requires gas (usually run with 100% co2 or a 75/25 mix)

the plan is for it to go on sunday. i will be finished with a project friday, gameday saturday, and wrenching sunday. the fox shocks, sway disconnects and gas tank skid are all going on. FINALLY. i'll only have a few more things left to do to the rear bumper before the southern appalachian expedition 09.

Where'd that skid come from? Is that one from Columbia Rovers?

sure is. i called them up and scored a used one for $175 shipped. it has a couple scratches, but nothing i wouldn't do on my own. ;)

Wow that's a deal on that Columbia Rover gas tank skid plate! I installed one on my trail D2. The fit and finish is spot-on, the holes all lined up perfectly and even better, it raised the gas tank by about 1/2".

I also got a Columbia Rover SS rear door panel, I haven't installed it but I checked the alignment of the panel and holes, they were on the mark! I wish other aftermarket products were made this well.

Question on the Fox shocks, are you using the 2.0 Piggy Back shocks? If so, is there enough room if the front shock tower for the reservoir?
