Snow on the Roof
I have a later trailer but still with the two piece door. I am not a fan of the one piece since it needs to open much more to clear your head. Our top piece is about my head level now and the lower flap shows even lower. I am only 5'9". So I may mess with different struts to make it extend higher and hope I wont need to change the mounting locations. I do like the step on the lower door but it could be bigger to do the step in and out dance. The door could be wider too but is manageable, especially since you can reach the cabinets from the outside.

Doug.
Hey Doug, how about some pics?

Want to meet in Northern Idaho or western Montana next summer? My daughter in law wants to meet us at th NWOR in Blaine, WA, in June. Would that work?

This post has nothing to do with the Beastie, but it does cover some loves lost. I have loved overlanding now for over 40 years. I plan on doing it as long as I can crawl behind the steering wheel. But....I really miss not being able to play on these anymore. SWMBO gently requested I give them up last year when I was only 70 y.o. I love her so sold my last one, the 2013 DL650/DMC hack. Awwwww.....

Muley Point with the old Free Spirit tent trailer. I can't think of a single location where the larger Beastie wouldn't have fit where I was able to tug the smaller trailer. Both have Timbren heavy duty suspension. Beastie is longer, but has much better clearance and comfort.

O.K., let's work on some dates. And yes your are correct. Once up here you won't want to leave, At least during the summer. ? Winters are a bit tougher. Pic of one of my favorite fishing streams. And this is near the campsite, not really of the best fishing spots! This is why you got the trailer, right?

I'm looking at mid-June to begin our fly fishing trips to Idaho. Also have to wait for the last of the high water from winter snow melt. Have to check on when the Northwest Overland Rally will be held in Plain, WA. I want to be there. But other than that, Nanc and I are looking east toward ID, MT, and maybe BC for fly fishing and camping in some of the most beautiful country left here in the U.S.

I have been texting with Mark, Mission Overland's owner and builder. Looks like he is concentrating on making the Overland pretty well configured but with less options than in the past. From the pics he sent me, which I'll share here, this idea is a sound one.

Here is a pic of his latest build passenger's side view. It continues with the new front hinged system on the top and the storage rack on top of the front box. Both better than the Beastie's.

A shot of the rear with the one piece lift up doorway and what looks like two tow points on the rear rail. Or they could be the mounting points for the new rear step. I like both of these improvements.

Looking into the trailer from the rear. This new table system is MUCH better than my original. I think the two black straps pull the sides in when closing the top.

The new shower system is also a winner. No more having a large box hanging off the driver's side of the trailer. The box held the old heater, hose, etc. It didn't help when looking through the rear view mirror to see what was behind you. This setup is much "cleaner" looking.

I believe the upper unit here is the Truma heater control unit. Will have to get clarification from Mark. The lower unit is pretty much like the original in Beastie. The switches control interior and exterior lighting, the water pump, etc.

I love the way the new table system can swivel out to one side so two people can sit next to one another with their computers or for dining, reading, etc. The cabinets on each side of the trailer have huge storage capabilities. There are two more, smaller storage units under the front pads. I never worry about not having enough storage in this trailer. I worry about taking too much stuff!

Oops, I may have been wrong. Looks like Mark is using some of the front storage for the Truma heating system. Still, storage is more than adequate.

Newer radio unit and speaker system??

Looking toward the rear of the trailer at the one piece rear door. The locking mechanism is a significant upgrade from my original. I have asked Mark if he can make this change to the Beastie. The new unit is lockable from the outside. This allows the owner to detach the trailer from the tug and drive away with pretty such knowledge of internal security. Nice!

Both the sink and stove are upgraded units. AND, Mark has included a towel rack now which is something I suggested to him. My sink is on the outboard side of the slider rather than inboard as seen here.

The under sink/stove storage area is pretty significant. Nanc and I use this area for most of our pots and pans, silverware, spices, and cleaning fluids and soap, plus Costco yellow shop towels. The towels also work well between pots and pans to keep them from rattling and dinging stuff up when underway. The Dometic frig/freezer is great. The lid can be mounted to open either toward the front or back of the trailer. We've switched ours to open towards the front.

A final shot from the inside showing the huge amount of storage available in the upper cabinets. I like the fact that the lower segments are velcro'd covers. We use those areas for shoe storage and to hold the extra cordage for our Darche awning.
