I’m lying in bed with my bad knee elevated so I’m trying to visualize this in my head. How much room is there between the back of the box and the front of the trailer? Can you mount vents there? Desert heat is the issue, right?

Zero clearance. I’m concerned about the beating sun on the black box, as well as the small amount of gasses from the batteries.

Mike, you are driving exactly the rig I would own if I already didn’t have my T4R. I would really love to have that V8 under my hood! Beautiful setup, congratulations! What kind of mileage are you getting?

I have been dreaming about adding a Magneson (TRD) supercharger, but wonder if it would give me the low end grunt I’m looking for. My mechanic is very leery of the heat a supercharger creates in an off road environment.

Is the WiFi extender worth it? I’m installing an Icom IC7100 this spring. I’ll be using a Little Tarheel II for HF. Still trying to figure out where to mount it.
Without pulling a trailer driving 80- 85 I'm getting about 10 and 1/2 miles per gallon.

The cell booster works as advertised. Many people think it creates a signal. There has to be a signal to boost.

A super charger would be nice but you can buy a long range tank and a lot of gas the that money.

Finally got it. It had the wrong hitch and missing the awning side walls. At least, the trailer is going to work out for us.

Tows like it is not there. Hard to keep it down under 85. Mileage at 80 mph has been 8 mpg. Outstanding.

Jesus I wish I could drive 85 mph without getting a ticket. Or even 80 for that matter.
I can only image my fuel economy at those speeds

Congratulations Mike!

What a beautiful looking setup. You're going to love this thing. More pics from the trip home please! Best to the Missuz. If she is like my Nanc, she will really love this trailer too! Here is a pic I put up already once of Nanc towing our Beastie in the Cascades.

Did you regear your LC? Sure is a fine looking rig. Like I said earlier, something similar is the only other tug I would want. My T4R could do with a few more ponies in the mountains. BTW, I've never even come close to 85 mph pulling Beastie. I'm usually cruising along at 60-65 mph. If I did 85, I'd be getting a heck of a lot less mpg than you are my friend!Salmon Meadows with Tucker.jpeg

Thanks.

I did not re-gear the truck though I wish I could. A rule to towing is always use a vehicle one size larger than the trailer you are towing.

I've talked to many Subaru drivers towing small trailers and their lamenting about getting 12 mpg or less and no power. Just because it can tow a trailer does not mean it should.

I can't wait to get home and start my modifications.

The fastest highway I recall seeing in Canada is 70mph, and your asking for trouble going faster than 75. And radar detectors are illegal for sure in my province.

What's the tire rating on these trailers? They are LT truck tires right? So should be good for S rating anyway

The US and Canada have closed both sides of border. Beastie is up in LaCombe with Mark. We may have a very truncated camping season this year. ?

please be careful folks, stay healthy. We’ll get through this if we stay put for awhile.

The speed limit is a suggestion . S rating is 112mph well under 80 or 85.

Maybe ask them to ship it along with their production units that go to the RV dealers. Can't hurt to ask.

I have once more been thinking about a Magneson supercharger for my 5th gen T4R. The best difference between the supers and turbos is that supers will give you up to a 20% increase in torque from low revs up. A friend with one says that once you get used to the incredible increase in torque, usually a month or two of lead footing, your mileage will increase back to where it was. TRD used to sell these as a Toyota option back in the third gen days. From what I hear the engine in the 4th and 5th gens will handle the added horsepower and torque with no issues. Um... Anyone have experience with one of these in their Toyota 4Runner?

April is coming and the southwest is calling! Hang in there folks, we'll make it through this virus pandemic if we play by the rules. Be safe and take care of your families.

Cheaper to get a bigger gas tank and buy gas. A supercharger will cost over 5K plus installation then even less gas mileage. That is a lot of gas to buy.
