My 1989 Suburban with a Westfalia top grafted into it... also dual 360 swivel seats

I did a bunch more work to it today (VERY hard to find extended time to really get going on things). I rewired a bunch of the Dome light stuff (all LED now), as well as built and wired in "courtesy" lamps into each door that come on and glow "down" when you open just that door. I pulled the Cigaretter lighter and installed a twin USB charger instead. I also added a twin USB charger for my wife on her side of the truck. I moved a bunch of wiring around, consolidated some things, and I am close to back to where I can put the front carpet in.

I have been spending a pile of time coating the inside of the doors with Dynamat and Foil Bubble insulation (reflectix), and I hope it makes a real difference in both insulation and quietness. I did some before (before the Westfalia top) and it made quite a bit of difference, but this time I went pretty overboard. It does add some weight, but.. well... It is a Suburban, and I am not winning any races anyhow.

I am hoping to get the complete original interior back in (Carpet installed, all seats and seatbelts bolted in), and have everything tight within a week or so.

Then I turn my attention to having a foam bed made for the upper bunk, and designing my "interior build".

But at least everything will be back in the truck, and not stored in my garage!

More soon (hopefully)

You did what I've been thinking about for a long time! Nice job, I'd like to see any further developments.

Our 'burbs look very similar, I've got the black exterior/blue interior too.

While the roof conversion is way beyond the scope of what I can do to the Woofwagon, this is an awesome build. I really like the swivel seats. Did they come out of a conversion van or RV?

Swivels are from a VW Vanagon, actually. I wound up buying new ones, but you could use junkyard ones if you wanted.

Thanks! I'm looking for a good set of bucket seats that will replace the bench in the Woofwagon. I'd like get some sort of supportive seat that is good for offroading without breaking the bank.

Dude! Awesome hoodscoop! That'll really let the ol' Hemi breathe!

But...um...isn't that scoop supposed to be on the hood...?

(j/k - nice combo you got there)

For the record I used the factory seats from the Suburban, the swivels from the VW and the factory Chevy Suburban "sliders". I did not use the seats from the VW.

Ok, here's a few more pictures. The carpet is just about in (didn't quite finish tonight), but you can see more of where I am here.

There you can see the door panels. Notice the cubby I built (I cut into the door) as well as my solution to no center console cupholders.

Here you can see the drivers side. Note my custom Aluminum Chapstick holder! That green thing is Chapstick.

Here you can see the real wood veneer dash insert I made. Came out well, I think!

And you can see the nice new upholstery on the front seats.

What color headliner fabric is that? I'm going to have to do that before too long on my new Big Blue. I've seen several different colors.

Thanks!! The headliner is just stuff my local shop sourced for me. I forget the exact color, but I just took a piece of the old messed up one and held it up to their chart and chose. :)

Ok! Got to work on the roof with my friend Robert today! A few in process pictures. Got a headliner installed over the flocking, got the top of the tent installed (haven't bolted it to the truck at the bottom yet) and it is lookin good!
