Totally awesome build. Ive always loved the good old 80's chevy body. My parents had a dark green suburban when I was very small. They would just put a custom mattress in the back to sleep on. What are you running for engine, tranny, all that good stuff?

did you have to modify the Vanagon roof length or did it fit as is ?

Man this is so awesome how did I miss this? The thought had occurred to me that this was doable but it looks easier than I had imagined.

My original plan was a "Sublazer" with a Flip-pac but I ended up with a K5 because I thought it would be cheaper (I was wrong, there is no cheaper only relatively more or less expensive)

How much drag and wind noise does it generate in comparison to before?

Things always looks easier when someone else does the work :), that's because the you can't see all the cussing and hammer throwing after the fact

The wind noise is minimal (but we spent a looooooooong time getting the top to fit just right and getting the seals just right).

Great looking Burb! Got any pics of your interior setup? I might have to be looking for a platform that's more family friendly/roomier than my Landcruiser

I haven't updated the interior with a new platform since I added the pop top. I had a big platform setup before, but I scrapped that, as it wasn't gonna work with the middle seat mounted. I need to get back building the interior out, because I my son is old enough for camping now and I gotta wrap the truck up!

Ok, minor update!! Robert (at RAK motorsports) and I spent time Friday working through some remodel of the tailgate area.

We moved the spare tire and "snugged" it in, removed the existing fuel tanks and added a 4 gallon RotoPax, modified the highlift mount and added a removable bike rack.

I wanted a way to carry two bikes with tires, but didn't want them on the rear tire.

Here's a couple pictures.

And then I went to Bob Tallman at House of Foam and we (he) cut some 4 inch foam for a mattress.

The mattress is too short for me (6'2") so I wanted a way to flip the single seat forward to stick my legs out. So Bob helped me make a "wedge" out of the spare foam.
