My 2004 LJ Unlimited's Journey and time for a refresh

Been dreaming about painting the very top section white. Already getting the looks like an old fj40 comments, or an old defender, and even got a mail jeep comment. Just wondering what y'all think. The wheels will be polished to a mirror finish so they wont match the white per se. I was gonna get that part white but wife talked me out of it.

Man I must be getting old. Installed the barn door today and wow the jeep is quite. I can tell how bad the sound system is now lol. Nutserts we easy once I had the correct $75 tool.

Really happy with tint choice, not too much but definitely enough!

One of the holes landed on a spot where the sheetmetal changed planes (bottom right) so drilling the hole was a small PITA but the nutsert worked just fine. The two top holes are in significantly thicker metal.

I think the white top idea is a good one, but I might just be a bit biased.......
and yeah, I get the "looks like an old FJ top" a lot which I find funny as Jeff designed it after the old CJ8 World Cab.

The Jeep factory export World Cab was definitely the original inspiration for the LJ/TJ Safari Cab. I liked my CJ-8 World Cab so much that I decided to improve on it and created the LJ/TJ Safari Cab...

There are actually FJ40 parts in the JK/JKU Safari Cab, I used FJ40 rear quarter vent window hardware and used the FJ windows as patterns for making the rear quarter vent windows in that version, and I've been thinking about molding new side panels for my LJ Safari Cab to install power vent windows, so it may end up that my LJ Safari will "share some DNA" with the FJ40 if I make the new side panels for it. The updated LJ side panels can easily be made in the same molds that the original side panels were made in, so it's not difficult project.

Started working on the spare tire rim, got a polishing kit coming on Monday.

Also started working on sanding down the fender flares, my buddy wants me to only sand down to 120 or so, he's going to fill in the tiny dips etc so that with a glossy paint job they look perfect...i got the impression that my sanding isn't good enough LOL.

Not a lot of sanding needed, this small flare took a few mins of 80 and a few more of 120.

Made some progress on a wheel, but i need something with more RPM's than my cordless drill. I scratched it up after polishing with some 1500 by hand to see where i was at. The polishing with only drill resulted in small discoloration from previous blemishes from 15 years of service. Zoomed in pic is best i could do, going to go to my buddies house and try his airtools.
