Are you using or 1/8th" thick tubing for the construction of this box slide out or 1/16"?

If I remember correctly I am using 16 gauge and then 1" angle welded to the frame. it has helped to keep the weight down but still be pretty strong.

Fabulous build Rutdigger. I don't know if I'll ever have the skill or time to tackle a project like this, but you've definitely inspired me to consider it.
In addition to saving tens of thousands of dollars, you've got serious bragging rights every time someone approaches you with a look of awe on their face.

Thanks for sharing the build with us.

DIY UEV 440

So I have had the rain flys on for a bit and am noticing that I am going to need to sew in some kind of stop on each end of the awning rope. When the wind blows from the side it tries to push the tarp out of the awning track. Maybe some velcro stops or something. I also had to cut about 5" off the front Spring Steel Rods to pull the fly down over the tent more. Oh, and I am noticing that I am going to have to clue the velcro straps to the sheet metal B/C the adhesive is not holding up to well in the heat. The sheet metal gets hot! However, I am very impressed with the insulation panels, they are doing a fantastic job of keeping the head out of the cabin.

Man I love you build. I've drooled over the 440 for ever. I purchased a tool body truck bed trailer and envisioned a similar project. It'll be a while be for I am able to do it. But my hats off to you man.

Amazing build man, I love the look of the 440 and you've captured a lot of it's essence here. Love your skateboard bearing slides, I'm still trying to figure out the best way to setup my kitchenette. Definitely got me thinking now.

This is such an awesome build..... I really wish they would bring the 440 here to the US.

Hey Rutdigger,
Got a question on the poles you're using on the rainfly's. Did you find a suitable pole and if so will you share the source? Or did you make those and if so what material did you use?
Thanks,
Mike

Mike, those are replacement spring steel rods for the RTTs. Scott chaney from camping concepts sells'em for 30 some bucks for a set of 8. Look him up online at camping concepts. Good guy. You will need to email or call him for these. He will then send you out a paypal invoice and ship like the next day. The rods are 35".

I'm afraid to inquire about the cost of having something this awesome custom built.

Well, if you go with a business its alot! The ozzy 440s are going for over 50k. Of course the real 440 is more awesome than mine, but hey. Lol. Relative to the size and imenities this trailer is much less than a commercial model of the same class.
