So yesterday was settlement day and once again I'm homeless although I did put a contract on another house last week so it looks like this trip will be a short one. My latest plans are to return in the fall. Yesterday I made it as far as my best friend's house and will stay here one more night. Tomorrow morning I'll decide where I'm off to.........

Finally got on the road early yesterday morning. Headed west on interstate 66 and decided to move forward with my plans to go to Michigan first. I spotted a nice size dead black bear on the side of the interstate. That sucked. Continued west and then north on interstate 81 into Maryland. After frequent stops we picked a nice spot in Green Ridge State Forest to camp. Great spot along the creek and a nice swimming hole for the dogs. Once it got dark, the fire flies were out in swarms. It was so beautiful, as if the stars had fallen from the skies. With the sounds of the creek, it wasn't long before I was out. Slept like a baby. Today we continued west and have slowly made into West Virginia.

Made it to Morgantown, West Virginia last night and decided to overnight at the local Walmart. Of course there's nothing real exciting about traveling on interstates and sleeping at a Walmart so I guess my postings are for family and friends mostly (at least for now). Hopefully we will get into something fun soon enough. And hopefully I'll figure out how to post pictures on here with my new iPhone. Well, the rains have stopped and we are headed north again.....

Elk herd in St Mary's and Benezette areas of Pa. Bald Eagle SP is also north of you right near I-80. Allegheny NF also..

You could search here for all and get results.. wouldn't be much of a drive in this weather were having. From these areas you could turn west if so inclined.

Didn't feel like driving much yesterday so I just hung out for most of the day. Finally made it about (80) miles down the road and saw a Cabela's store along the highway. I decided to make a stop and check out the place. This place was unreal....enormous!! I've never seen so much fishing and hunting gear in my life. Must be paradise for the camo lovers. Anyhow, they were nice enough to allow us to sleep in their side parking last night so that was the ending of our exciting day. We're stopped this morning at a Starbucks along Interstate 70 and I think I'm headed for a nearby state park to camp and get a few showers in.

Headed out of Cabela's late morning with a plan to overnight at Barkcamp State Park, Ohio. After a drive of only (29) miles I pulled into a beautiful campground and decided that this would be a good spot to hang out, get cleaned up, and relax. And for $21 per night it seemed like a real bargain. While setting up my campsite, I opened one of my windows and it completely shattered. I can't imagine what could have caused that. Combined with the generator that won't start, I guess I need to find myself an RV shop and get some work done soon. We spent the afternoon at the lake so the dogs could get some swimming in, and then the evening was spent at our small campfire. I really like this place (I usually hate campgrounds) and am thinking about staying again tonight.

So still here at Barkcamp State Park. I have to admit that I'm enjoying most of the comforts of home here so I'm in no hurry to move on. Yesterday after a long walk in the forest we headed down to the lake to cool off. This year I'm being a little more cautious with lakes, streams, etc. (last year I got quite sick). So when I say we in general I'm talking about the dogs swimming. I'm sticking to the showers when available. In the afternoon we drove into Barnesville (about 10 miles from here) to get me a steak for dinner. I rarely eat red meat but there's something about a fire and a grill that makes me think I'd like it. I never do. Anyhow, the day passed by without excitement, lots of sitting in my lawn chair reading a book, and not much else really going on here. The campground is now full and I'm thinking that I'll stay one more night since the forecast is for heavy rains and like I said previously I don't like driving in downpours. .

Just registered for another night at Barkcamp State Park. Yesterday afternoon Montana started to feel bad. He was running for the woods every hour or so. Poor guy. Then in the evening Yukon started to puke. My guess is that they picked up something from the lake but I checked at the front office and they tell me that the lake is checked regularly and that it's safe and clean. I don't know about that. Anyhow, I figured it wouldn't be fair to them to travel today. It's been raining off and on all morning too so I'm sure staying here again is the right decision. Both the guys seem to be feeling better today so I guess we'll be gone tomorrow. I continue to enjoy my daily shower and the electricity.

Yep, still hanging out in Barkcamp State Park. It's kinda funny cause I'm usually never like this. There's an elderly couple (2) sites down that is bringing me dinner every night, another family that has taken an interest in us, and a pick up truck load of college students that hang around and like to talk with me, and lots of other friendly folks to chat with. So each day I swear I'm leaving and each day I never leave. We did absolutely nothing yesterday.........this must be some seriously boring reading. And no plans for today either. Just relaxing, taking long walks, reading, watching movies, and eating. Sounds like I'm still at home. Oh well, we're leaving tomorrow for sure (I hope).

Alright..........so today is our big day. I swear I'm leaving. Check out is 1:00 p.m. and I'll fight the urge to stay another night. Must go north........Well, we don't have to go north but I'm interested in seeing the Upper Peninsula. Just checked the weather forecast up there and highs in the 70's and lows in the 50's. Just perfect for us.

Yesterday we drove into Barnesville for groceries and that was the high lite of our day. Other than that, same old thing.

Nice to see someone who is "not" rushing from place to place. Plus, I would have never thought of Ohio as a great place to spend a few days. Nice to find out I'm wrong.

Zeke......definitely can't be accused of hurrying along. I'm just being lazy though.

So, even though I swore to myself that we would leave yesterday, I didn't leave. I'm in site #4, quite close to the park entrance. Probably 500' away is the dump station for the RV's. Well, I saw that line gradually increase as the morning passes. There's probably (150) sites in this park and I would imagine that 90 % left yesterday. It finally occurred to me that it was Sunday, the last day of the holiday weekend and that traffic was going to suck. Then it started to pour. Then I thought, I'm not waiting in that line to dump my tanks in pouring rain, then drive in holiday traffic in pouring rain. So here we are.

The rains did quit in the afternoon so we took a drive to Dysart Woods. I never heard of it either but it's an old growth forest nearby which is managed by Ohio University. It had several hiking trails so we spent the afternoon in the woods. Last night we made a fire and hung out in the lawn chair. Another nice, relaxing day..............
