ocdiver.....yep, she fits in perfectly.....she's like the missing piece in our puzzle.....
Alan.....we have big plans for 2021 although I'm not quite certain just yet as to what they may be.....travel safe.....
Greg.....you remind me of a friend of mine in Montana that owns a gutter installation company. It's typically just him and one helper, and always he brings his poodle. When he pulls up in his truck pulling his cargo trailer, the last thing you expect to see is a poodle. There's no doubt in my mind that his poodle believes he's a Golden Retriever.....
Yesterday afternoon 3 coyotes came through our campsite. An hour later I saw them again coming from the lakes shoreline.....one had a black duck hanging from its mouth (difficult to see but it's the best I got).....
ITTOG.....thanks....she's perfect.....
McCarthy.....you said it perfectly. The last time I remember having thoughts such as these that are tied so closely to a wild animal was several years ago when I was camped with the wild horses on Assateaque Island (or was it Chincoteague?) at the Eastern Shore in Virginia.....oh man they speak to me.....
halseyt.....the million dollar question will never be answered.....Friday night I had gone to bed and as I was falling asleep I thought I'd make a quick check on Craigslist Las Vegas for Retrievers. The family had just put their post up and I decided to respond. I wrote a somewhat lengthy email and asked that they check out this thread (thanks to Scott B. & Christian P. for allowing this non overlander to post here). Saturday morning they texted me and asked to meet. They told me that they had received 43 requests for her that night but they chose Tanner & I.....I felt blessed and knew it was meant to be. Often over this past year I've scanned craigslist, animal shelters & breeders but this was the first time that I recall responding to anyone seriously.....that's our story.....and we're sticking to it.....
buenavides.....thanks for posting up and yea I would suppose that everyone that follows this thread will see their fair share of Golden Retriever photographs in the upcoming months. Hopefully we will be back out there once her legs are long enough to hit the backcountry once again.....
Arjan.....geez, I'm really sorry for you and your family. Hebe must have had an amazing life and been treated incredibly well cause Golden Retrievers typically never live near that long. Something that always has bewildered me about the breed is that they are the most loving of all dogs yet have one of the shortest lifespans. Was it cancer that took Hebe or was it maybe just the old age ? Again, I am truly, truly sorry.....
