Bridger.....that's what we named her.....the newest addition to our pack.....

I first saw her on Petfinder several weeks ago and she immediately captured my heart.....truly was love at first sight.....

View attachment 782761

Her owners of eight and one half years had dropped her off at the shelter in March after she had peed in the house several times.....they just couldn't have that. It turned out that she had a urinary tract infection which was cured with medication.....apparently the owners didn't want her back.....

Now Bridger is a part of our pack.....and we all love her dearly.....so that's why we drove to West Yellowstone, Montana on that beautiful spring day.....

Bridger.....totally focused on the bison.....

One day when Bridger crosses the Rainbow Bridge, I sure do hope she will have memories of a better life lived in Montana, and memories of life on the road....and fond memories of her new best friends.....

Always better to adopt, than shop. And good on you for adopting an older dog and for the good life I know you're going to give her.

A quick update on Bridger.....

She's doing great.....she's a wonderful dog.....

Yesterday she had her first vet appointment and mostly things went as expected.....the vet put her on a medication to try to ease her pain from the arthritis.....

It's amazing how quickly she fit into the pack.....she absolutely loves spending her days playing in the field, chasing tennis balls, digging massive holes in her quest for the voles, or simply going for rides in the truck.....

20230617_144059_copy_349x747.jpg

I make sure to pet her often.....maybe too often.....I really don't know.....to give her a thousand kisses every day.....to spoil her rotten.....to make up for those undeserved days at the animal shelter.....

20230619_132845_copy_349x747.jpg

So yea.....life is good for Bridger these days.....actually life is very, very good these days.....

And we are grateful for a new best friend that has fallen into our lives.....

Did the previous owner give her up because of the digging? My first golden was a digger but only when told ok. She loved to dig in sand because it was so easy.

Bridger is a great looking dog. I'm sure he will appreciate your love. Sorry to hear about Bert.

Ace..,...the adoption coordinator & transporter both told me that Bridger had peed in the house and that was the reason that the owners surrendered her. I try not to judge, so.....just happy that we crossed paths with her. It's amazing how quickly she has bonded with us.....she literally follows me everywhere I go.....as if she's afraid she'll be abandoned once again.....

JD.....as stated, she's great.....and yea, it sucks that Old Bert passed.....I miss his lousy jokes often.....

tgil.....exactly.....it took me a long time to get another Yellow Lab. Honestly, I'm still not over losing Yukon.....probably never will get over that one.....

Well.....my guess is that I'll never make it back to the Himalayas (at least in this lifetime), so I did the next best thing (well, that might be a bit of a stretch).....anyhow, I added more prayer flags to place.....I just love those things.....

20230701_192431_copy_1600x747.jpg

.....and I added a swimming pool.....it's funny but that thing sure looked larger at Walmart.....I guess maybe cause it was the largest one they had.....

20230629_140324_copy_1600x747.jpg

Now the past few months I've spent quite a few hours in my chair recovering & watching the birds at my feeders.....so one day I'm mowing my neighbors' property with my new John Deere tractor (pictures coming) and I see these old, cut branches nearby.....my brain gets to working and I customized my entire exterior wall to accommodate my bird friends.....

20230701_115741_copy_1600x747.jpg

.....and I also added more prayer flags along that wall as well. It's amazing how many birds visit my place now. The birdhouses are full of newborns and the songbirds are tweeting all day.....well, if you can't travel.....I see no better way to spend the time.....

20230701_115754_copy_1600x747.jpg

Maybe the dogs would disagree.....maybe a fun fight is a better choice.....

20230704_082615_copy_1600x747.jpg

.....or just laying low in some tall grass or weeds.....

Not that my opinion matters but Jerry, you have now gone to far. LOL. Birds are beautiful and great to listen to but they can sure damage a house and lawn. That is one animal I do not like around my house. Ducks, chickens, etc all apply as well. My wife used to feed some ducks that would come to the house once a year. Of course this made them stay longer. They would get in the pool and cause havoc on the chemistry. I just about had to threaten to shoot them to get her to stop feeding them.

Glad to see you and the dogs are doing well. You have created a very beautiful place to recover. I pray the recovery is going well.

Speaking of praying, do you know what religion is primarily on the mountains using the prayer flags? I know Hindu and muslim are big over there but didn't know if the prayer flags are primarily for one or the other. I guess the same question would apply for the gifts they give to keep the mountains gods safe. Well, I guess for mountain gods it has to be Hindu.

halseyt.....can't go wrong posting dog pictures.....thanks.....

ITTOG.....I'm with you on the ducks and chickens but the birds that hang out at my place are simply amazing. I never before saw myself as a bird guy but being forced to slow down has changed that now.....I really love anything wild.....

Prayer flags are a Buddhist thing.....I became aware of them years ago during my travels.....they bring me peace & tranquility.....

Recovery.....it has been quite the battle for me. Initially I did well.....did not sgn up for heart rehab.....4 weeks out I honestly thought I might not make it. 6 weeks out I started heart rehab.....that probably saved my life. I got kicked out nearly 2 weeks ago.....cause I'm doing pretty good again.....getting old is not for the weak.....

But I've been fortunate that Mother Nature lives right out my back door.....and that scene never gets old.....
