I went to a salvage today. found out that the relay harness in the driver side quarter panel is for the trailer harness, and that it was bad. so I picked up a new set of relays and hope they work.

YAY!!!! I got the trailer brake lights working. turns out the trailer wiring harness for the jeep wasn't getting hard power, so I found a wire nearby that had power with the key turned on and spliced it into the trailer wiring and wuhlah! brake lights working. sometimes I consider myself a wiring genius, and then I find another wiring issue. the trailer backup light wont work. I don't know why, but I do know that its not required, so that will be a slowly progressing job, probably resulting in new backup lights mounted. probably grab a set of the $26 offroad lights from walmart and hardwire them as the reverse lights on it.
also, I took the trailer to the nearby spot and gave it a test run. wasn't able to grab any pics because I wasn't planning on going so I left my camera and gopro at home. but I think I may go out tomorrow and plan on taking a few pics. the test was a success, regardless of the fact that im open front and rear, I only got stuck twice. but I was able to backup and get out.
speaking of backing up, im completely new to the trailer scene, and don't have any trailer experience, so this is a little harder than I thought lol.

Sounds like you are on the same build budget as a lot of us. I got 2 1/2 years head start on you and my little M416 just made it to stage 2 of a 3 part buildup. It's a fun project between the honey-do's for me. This slow pace is working out though....it gives me time to do it right the first time. (unlike the PO's failed attempt at a hack bubba gate!!)
Glad the light issue has been worked out. Is the spare going to be the next step?

yeah the spare tire mount for the rear. a friend is giving me his old hitch mounted spare carrier, and im gonna have a hitch receiver mounted on the rear of the jeep. then comes the lid. I have to drive the xj and this back to Oklahoma in march, so I need it roll ready with a lid by then.

tried to go up and pre run a planned camping trip to a place near me called surprise lake, but we couldn't make it all the way to the lake yet. its in the mountains, and there was still a lot of snow. took a few snow pics. nothing special.
also found out that I have 2 broken motor mounts out of 2. lol and a bad driveline ujoint. anyways, all in due time. well heres the pics

Nice rig and great pictures. How many thumbs up did you get with the trailer on that trip. I hate to stop for gas as it is 20 minutes to get out. Everyone wants to look at the trailer and talk about the Jeep they used to own.

lol I know what you mean. but the trip is only a 30 minute drive to the snow for me, so I don't have to stop for gas lol. people like to see me do hillclimbs and stuff with the trailer. anyways I got my 8.25 for the jeep last night, and getting the new motor mounts and tranny mount today. so I have some work to do on the jeep before I can get started on the trailer again.

ahhh ok I know what you mean now lol. I thought you meant a different lift lol. like lifting the trailer to make it taller not lifting it to move it haha. yeah I like them, but theyre kinda getting in the way of my ideas.....lol. I don't have any idea for them.

Get a helicopter and use them.

lol yeah see this is a budget build for a reason. if I could afford a helicopter I would of had this trailer done the day after I got it lol. but other than that I guess I can use them as moving points in case It gets stuck or something somehow.
