My new truck

Well I have had a couple people ask about the truck so here are a couple crappy cell phone pics of it. Plans for it......none yet just drive it for hopefully a long time. Would like a topper though.

Its a 96 Tacoma, 2.7l 4cyl, 4x4, 5spd. Bare bones edition in a sort of a green/blueish color. Its super clean, 125,525 miles, no rust, no frame issues, clean interior and ran like a champ all the way from Harrisburg PA to Howell MI this weekend! Good truck

My only complaints.....Needs a new radio. Stock is just a AM/FM no tape. And new door speakers. One is blown and the other is getting close I think. Finally I think I am going to see if I can find some buckets that will swap in for the bench seat. Its a bit too uncomfortable even though I like the look.

Nice. The KISS principle in vehicle form. Simple and economical. Does it have AC?

For toppers/shells try Craigslist. I found both of mine there. Use the "wanted" feature, again, I found both of mine through "wanted" ads.

One thing, though, most of the Tacoma toppers you're going to find will be for extended cabs which have a different profile. I think they can fit but they have kind of an ugly gap between the topper and the cab. New toppers IMO are waaaay too expensive (~$800 for even a cheap fiberglass one with no features, a decent one with win-doors and other nice additions will easily break $1500.)

Nice truck.

Regarding your planned seat replacement, I'd recommend getting buckets out of an 80s or 90s SR5 truck, or another vehicle (Merc/BMW?), but not from a Tacoma. The Tacoma buckets are nice seats, but they leave something to be desired. I think my 88 SR5 seats are much more comfortable.

FWIW- That's my exact "dream" truck. Same model, color, wheels... everything.
I looked for awhile and just couldn't find what I wanted so I moved on to other things.

Nice find!

Nice looking truck!

Just got a barebone one myself. 98 4x4 5 speed, hand cranked windows, no auto nothing. Some minor fender bender but great mechanical shape. Now prioritizing to fix the fender bender or start building up the truck.

Great tip on looking through Craigslist for used cab, I'm looking at a snugtop today, hopefully it'll fit the standard cab.
