The rig came back in army green, with all accessory pieces, including frame, recoated in matte black. added some mesh Light guards on both the headlight and spotlight, and german light baskets guarding the signal lights all around:

Cleaned up a little more details:

black ignition cover with new Spin on oil filter conversion

Gated reverse hand shifter and new 2014+ knee pads that can go on since i removed flanges...

And finally... I converted the front disk to drum to give it the old school look back and give me 3 wheel interchangeability with the spare. I dialed it in with some german parts and nice cable and I'm not kidding when i say it works as well as the Disk!
So i got her out of suburbia and into the Cascades and she has been doing great!

Ever since I did an ADV ride to Chaco Canyon with a friend who was on his Gear Up, I've been wanting one. And now, recovering from a really bad dirt bike accident, the slower pace of a Ural with a side hack is much more appealing.

Well, almost everything. That toggle switch detracts. Perhaps add one of those little rubber boots over it. That would do the trick.

Agreed! Got rid of the toggle... got a new dash without the hole and relocated it.

Great build. I love the repainted look. I had a 2011 GU and miss it often. Im interested in your thoughts on the front drum conversion. I thought the Brembo brake was the best one on the rig and I would have converte the rest to disk if I could at the time. Never thought of going back to drum. Are you happy with the performance?\

Super happy with the front drum... i have had to emergency stop twice on it and have had no issues. The initial dial in was a pain, taking 3 hours, but once its done its done. Also got the upgraded turnbuckle and super heavy duty cable so it really is a stout system.
