Yeah, I guess they were a little bit big ;-) better now. These pictures are of the stock springs along side the Old Man Emu springs with the end holes lined up on both ends. You can see how much taller the OME springs are under no load. The OME springs also have 7 plates vs. the stock springs which have 4 plates. And the OME springs have leafs that extend nearly to the ends for better support.
Surprisingly, the ride with the OME springs is not harsh at all. These have 4 active leafs plus 3 helper leafs. When I first installed them, my u-bolts were not long enough so I left out two of the helper plates to make the stack shorter. Later when I got longer u-bolts and put all of the plates in, the ride was not that much different but the rear of the truck was much higher. With these springs, I can fill the bed with firewood stacked in rows about 10" higher than the bed and the leafs are just getting to where they are completely flat.
