NC to OR on the TAT in my 4Runner

I guess I'm thinking about my jeep. I don't start bulging till I'm at about 13-15 psi so 17 for a road like that and 25 on pavement is good for me. But your rig is heavier so maybe like 20-25 for you. you definitely don't need to be running close to 40 like you are. It will soak up some of the bumps too and won't be as rough.

There is not really a right answer to this. Just make a judgment call you know your rig better than anyone else does. If your trying to drift around corners and stuff keep it on the higher level so you don't pinch a bead or bend the lip of your rim on a rock because your going to fast and are too low of psi.

DAY 2

Okay so day one was wild and day two was just as good!! I didn't get a chance to finish day one in the previous post. Apparently there was a break in across from the Walmart I was staying at that caused alarms and police at 430am so needless to say I was awake!! I drove the three hrs to Nashville met my uncle.
Now it's 1100 CST still real sleep!!

After leaving Nashville I thought that I had seen something about the Trail going through Memphis so I figured I would skip some of the winding in the Appalachian Mountains (since I can explore them later) and go to Memphis and catch the Trail. Well, I got off 40 and ate at the Log Cabin Restaurant on, I think hwy 13?? Anyways found out that I could take the hwy straight to the Trail from there and it was only about 50 miles to the Trail so I gassed up at the Pilot and decided to look at a tire gauge since I forgot mine, well they wanted 10$ and I was like hell no I'll get one at the next Walmart!! Left Pilot on 13 and steering wheel started to wobble, I checked the tires and didn't see nothing but I went back and picked up the gauge and a tire repair kit!!

After driving 50+ miles from there I finally turned onto the trans-america trail. This was a little road that oddly enough there was a sign at the very beginning that said that my GPS was wrong and I needed to turn around!!!!!

Then I hear the worse sound possible, air leaking. Yeah I cut a tire, I have always been blessed with matches in the darkness but WOW what are the chances right!! So my question is Nitto WTH?? Maybe this is why they didn't want to sponsor me!!!!

Lucky I was right on the out skirts of this little town that had a tire shop!!!

So then I went to the local tie place and they were able to fix me up!!

From there I was off!!! I traveled through what I think to be some of the prettiest scenery I have ever seen or could ever imagine!!

I have wanted to see the West for a LONG time but I really don't think you can compare to the Southeast at Spring time!!

Then out of nowhere BOOM!!! Heaven. I came across what I think to bee the absolute best place anyone could spend their first time campin (after all lests not forget this is my first time) Waterloo Alabama WOW!!

Last night my collarbone and ribs killed me. I EILL NOT BE UNCOMFORTABLE TONIGHT!!!!!

The brown pillow is a temperpedic!!!
Got my camp set up, ate some pork chops I picked up from the little store on 13

Did I mention FULL CELL PHONE SERVICE!!!! I'm in heaven!!

I also had to find a place with beer cause dammit I deserve it!! BTW, Waterloo is a dry County little ways to find a store with beer but there is one!!

For some reason I had 1 too many images. sorry!! It's just me relaxing with a beer by my fire!!

I also took this time to rearrange the truck and will finish in the am!!


I'm writing this at 1133cst and I'm beat. I've killed the about 6of the beers, threw some firecrackers to keep what ever critters in the woods away, it's 52°, my fires gone and I'm ready for sleep so

Does anyone have a quick reference guide / website where it list how I have to carry my gun? In SC as long as it's in console/glovebox I'm good. I don't have a concealed carry permit and don't want any problems!!

DAY 3

Finally!!! Damn, I have been driving all day I'm tired, sore and ready to sleep. Google is a pain in the *** trying to find a camp sight. Im sleeping in the truck but don't wanna just park on the side of a road!! I found a State Park outside water valley Mississippi so I will stay here

The journey was nice today not quite as beautiful as it was yesterday but still pretty in its own way. Lots of cows, clay, and gravel. Here are the pics from today

Oddly enough there were more paved roads today which was OK it's nice to be able to make up time.

When there was no placement there was clay and mud. Lucky it wasn't raining this would have been bad, I thought I had more pics but I did video!! Stay tuned for the videos!!

Stopped at Fred's and picked up some stuff

Then ate my lunch!!

I drove until 10pm CST. I need LEDs any suggestions and pics to show off??

I'm wore out hopefully I can get some decent sleep tonight and not be sore in the am!!

I heard from Smittybilt today and all was well until the lady with the marketing company said based off me talking about them taking 3wks in my YouTube video that she was not going to submit it so therefore I won't be getting a Roof Top Tent to try I think it's kinda BS but whatever!! I was looking forward to that too!!

I had to reroute twice today once for a road that was washed away

I may have been able toake it, I don't think so, but I didn't want to risk it

Then there was a road that was completely closed with no way around I didn't get pics of that. The second road closed I came to I went around.

and
2- since you're not running a dual battery, you may want to pop into a Walmart and pick up one of these portable jumpers

DAY 4

Today has been good. I FINALLY found hot shower so mission accomplished!! The Bath house at the state park I stayed at last night. It was dark when I got there and thought there would be a good view of the lake but there wasn't. So after eating some eggs and taking a much needed shower I drove to look at it.

The camp site is here!!!

The lake is down there. I heard the water and slept great!!

YAY, a shower. I am ultimately just a bougie *** city boy so I was happy to have a warm shower!!! My solar shower pack is not working real well, the weather has been great but no sun!!!

This little big fella wanted to join me for the shower

I was so excited to take a shower I forgot to grab my towel. I made do by drying off with the dirty clothes!!!

For the most part Mississippi was pretty much the same as yesterday. Clay, farms, hills, repeat!!

There was some mud since it's been raining today

Crossed this cool bridge over a little River called the Mississippi River

In my video (I swear it's coming soon!!!!) I talked about the Casino that's at the very end of Mississippi, I didn't stop because IM GOING TO VEGAS!!!

Once in Arkansas I stopped at a Walmart to get some gas cans because I'm stressed about running out!! I don't think y'all understand, my 4rumner is my rock for this journey like without her I'm out of commission!!! Someone had mentioned that gas is scarce after the River so I packed about 5gal reserve!! I also got some window chalk!!

I asked the cashier where was a good place to eat and she recommended the Bistro in West Helena Arkansas

The waiter said to get a burger which is kinda what I wanted so that worked out.

Great burger too!!

DAY 4 Continued

After eating I was ready to get back to the Trail. After getting on I came across something I had only seen in pics!!

They don't claim to be official bit I say otherwise. What a great group of guys. Once I stopped to see Percy, Glenn and Al showed up!! Glenn convinced Percy, and me, that I needed a cold Budlight and Al claimed to be the official TAT Photographer!! I signed in

They publish a book every year with everyone that comes through. Isn't that cool as hell!!!!

No I did not get a pic in the Jail!!! I would never volunteer to go into Jail!!!

After vatji.g up with those guys over a beer I headed on. The country side was amazing

It was here I noticed that my rack has shifted. I beat it with the back of my hatchet and straighter it out. I tried my hardest to adjust it but my collarbone has been killing me (it's still broke!!) So I wasn't very effective. By the way this rack has been a complete pain in the ***!!! I'm glad to have it but it's hard to load unload and adjust

Shortly after that is when I ran into the mud!!!

I had apparently unintentionally split the storm!

Then more mud

It was about 5ish CST when I wanted to start thimking about finding somewhere to sleep! I had come across a road that was "closed" I asked a construction worker that was leaving if I could cross and he said no, so I wondered aground and came across some camp sights in the wildlife refuge along the trail

Not wanting to set up camp with only 2 beers left I was close to I40 and figured I could stock up close by, well nothing but dead ends that were not on the maps soooo I revisited the "closed" Rd and fou d it to be possible!! I went on into Helen AK and got some inventory! I didn't want to pass through the Rd again because I figured in the am they would be there and not let me through so I found another spot!!

And the beer is cold!! I will say however that it is muggy as hell and muddy as hell 59 degrees and I'm sweating! But the beer is cold!!!

By the way my rack, crooked again!?

When it's nice and I feel up to it I will fix it. I ate a pork chop, im so aick of pork chops im glad I ate the ladt one!! I called some family and now I'm drinking some beer listening to music next to my fire and loving life!!! I will catch up with y'all tomorrow!!

I have a jump box I brought with me just in case!! That's my number one fear!
