Why is it....that car companies have never offered an Exact Replica in one of their 25th Aniversery offerings? (what's old is new again theory!). It's Not like they lost the Plans or anything!

Can you imagine how many guys would want to own a brand new 1st Generation Toyota 4Runner again>?!!!!

And Please put the Solid Front Axle back on!:ylsmoke:

And stick the 3.4 in there!:victory:

I've always loved the 4runner. Why the speculation about the next generation getting bigger? The new trend is to get smaller, I thought...

Frankly, I can't wait to see what they come up with.

T-100 to Tundra to GIANT Tundra

Sequoia to Giant Sequoia

Rav-4 to HUGE Rav-4

and on down the list....

You forgot about the upsizing of the highslander and camry.

Still would take an LC200 all year long...

Fundamental changes have occurred in the vehicles demanded by consumers. I just don't believe the new 4runner will be larger than the last generation.

Why is the 4Runner positioned as an "off-road" vehicle yet the LC is not?

Odd.

Not odd at all. Image conscious mall-crawlers will throw down $80k on the latest blinged out cruise-mobile. Cheap-MMMMM 4 wheelers won't.

As I've said before, numerous times:

Toyota is not in business to make us happy. Toyota is in business to make money.

Want some Unicorns with that? Maybe a fairy godmother or two?

While you're at it, might as well wish for a flat tax, $0.25 a gallon gas, a 10 hour work week and world peace.

Hey, if you're going to dream, dream big. :D

Odd.

Didn't that happen in the mid-90's during the peak of the SUV craze? Before Toyota had the Sequioa and the Highlander as true mall SUV's, they saw an opportunity to remarket the LC as a "premium SUV" - but needed to trade in utility for creature comforts. The 100 series and the 200 series are not nearly as capable as a 4Runner or Tacoma. :Wow1:

Rather have a diesel, but yeah, that'd be sweet...

Because they would cost $50,000 - $60,000 or more and then the people who could afford them wouldn't want them, while the people who wanted them couldn't afford them.

The only companies that can get away with building anachronistic versions of their previous classics are motorcycle companies and that's because they sell a luxury good, not a neccessity, and because motorcycles are much less expensive to make than automobiles.

Also think about the cost of bringing a 1985 vehicle up to current US safety and emissions standards.

That is quite the blanket statement. What situation is the basis for your opinion? If I were loading a vehicle up with 500+ lbs of gear for any type of lengthy, off road trip, I'd take the Land Cruiser over the 4Runner or Tacoma.
