why is that? its the same tread with just a little different side wall...I am going to say that it will wear and ride exactly the same as the current tire.

Because of the larger tread blocks and less siping. Plus, I don't care for the DB bumps on the sidewall at all.

They are in production now:

They should be in stores in June/July '14. Here are some specs:

20% tougher sidewalls

Twice the treadlife on gravel

10% more mud traction

19% improved traction in snow

Those are on LT265/75R17

Will they still have original KO for sale after new ones come out.
Also will the KO2 be heavier?

I'm due for tires and really like the 1st KO. But if the new one is same weight. I'll wait for them.

I am not too into the sidewall bumps either. I prefer the cleaner look of the original KOs. They have always treated me well and work great on my Tundra. Looks like I'll need to snag 5 original KO's for my CJ-7 to replace an aged pair before they are discontinued. I suppose I should get around to swapping out the blown engine too with the long block sitting in my garage, but tires first. Priorities.

Claims from the tech link, which is the best of the three I think:
20% tougher sidewalls
Longer treadlife on and off road (15% on road, less chipping off road)
Coregard technology (tougher sidewall rubber from KR2 racing tire)
Stone ejectors inside tread to help prevent stone drilling
Side lugs designed for airing down
Mud-phobic bars to help release compacted mud (not that I think they will be that great in it)
Mtn snowflake symbol still included
"significantly increased snow traction" on par with dedicated winter tires

Nice find, thanks for posting. Glad to see they are still Mtn Snowflake tires. If they have the right size (255/85/16) in the right load range C or D. This would be my next tire.

I couldn't find anything on sizing when I was looking.

I doubt 255/85 will be available, but hopefully. That is what I would like too, but I don't mind 285/75 R16 either.

It sounds like BFGoodrich has done their homework on this one, and they haven't just designed it to look cool on bro's trucks. I'm anxious to see how it compares against the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac and Cooper Discoverer AT3 & Maxx as the current all-terrain tire benchmarks.

I'm going with the Cooper ST Maxx. When I was at Advance 4x4 in SLC earlier this year, they had a van going to Australia and another going to Dubai. Both vans were ordered with the Coopers.
