New CV join replacement - question due to suspension upgrade

Hello All,

I need to replace the CV joint for my truck, but I swapped the front axle from Montero Sports 2003 (re-gearing upgrade). Can I still buy the one from Gen 2, 2.5 Montero? Or I need to get one from Monter Sports 2003?

You can use the CV's from a gen 2 / 2.5 Monty. I too installed the 4.90 sport re-gear in my gen 2.5 Monty and just re-used the existing 2.5 halfshafts. Cleaned repacked and rebooted the CV's of course. Toasty says the gen 2 CV's are slightly larger (stronger), so good option if you can locate them.

The stronger CVs have CV100 or NTN100 stamped on the bells, they come on 94-98 Monteros with 3.5 and 3.0 Monteros with manual transmissions.

Sport CV and stub shaft flanges are slightly different than Monteros in some cases need their bolt holes hogged out just a bit
