I met a guy in England that had over 350,000 miles on his two door Range Rover Classic - the amazing thing was that the heads had never been off the motor. That was back in the 1980's, if he's still got the truck its probably got a million miles]

Head gasket failures did not become a problem until the 4.0 engines. Land Rover engine quality control went to crap. Nobody ever talked of head gasket failures with the 3.5. Timing chain and cams were the normal issues.

No head gasket issues with my 98 DI 4.0 on 180K miles. Head gasket issues began later as tooling wore out, engine temps rose for emissions and QC lagged.

Most head gasket failures in the early engines were directly related to the cooling system. The radiator core fills with sediment from the bottom up so in my experience getting the radiator rodded out before the 110K mark has a very positive effect on head gasket life. That and replacing the stupid plastic radiator plugs with brass ones before they crumble into dust.

New bespoke rooftop tent for the new 110 is now available from your dealer (not in North America - yet), bargain priced at $3500.00 and change:

If my eyes are not tricking me that looks like it has Autohome on it. It’s close, but not identical, to the Columbus model, which starts at $3k on it’s own, and if you want a black one it’s around $3300-$4k depending on size. Seems like LR is actually pretty competitive on pricing, and thankfully it looks like they’ve gone with a reputable partner and not just ordered their own brand of tents from one of the big factories - as we’ve seen in the product lifecycle of many RTT companies, it takes a few production runs to get things right, and hopefully partnering with Autohome will avoid that.

The idea of being able to lump all the accessories into a turn-key expedition vehicle is nice too, as that also typically comes with some peace of mind from warranty coverage for dealer-installed accessories (not in all cases, just often).

I've got several hundred comfortable nights in my Maggiolina and I agree with the above assessment. Autohome builds a first rate product, I haven't had a single issue with mine that wasn't owner induced. That overhanging tree was not the roof tents fault but the beauty of a fiberglass shell is that it's easy to repair.

It’s is a Autohome. They partnered up with Land Rover to design this tent.

Have you seen the specs? You can at least tow a medium-sized trailer full, with probably one or two in the trunk, which you can then hose out if you opt for the shower option. This thing has farm utility at its very core! ;)
Gotta be able to easily fit through pasture gates. Some of the ones I’ve seen in the UK are quite small. But yeah you could tow 8,200 pounds worth of dead sheep and trailer. Frankly I’d have no issue using the new Defender on the farm.
