Sorry mate, anyone can find a news title on anything to back up a comment, find me an on record comment from landrover:

Again LR only said something along the lines of: we have taken the discovery more upmarket closer to the range rover.

They have also dicided to push the range rover deeper into the luxury space.

The Discovery didn't move upmarket. It moved to a completely different market, VW Touareg. More lateral. The Luxury Defender moved significantly upmarket with styling, electronics and pricing, by design. I'm sure the industry press is perfectly capable of judging the moves of all manufacturers, objectively.

I need to see it in person and drive it before I can say whether those numbers are justifiable or not....Can't wait until some land on dealer lots so we can get a real world feel for it.

The Luxury Defender is the evolution of the LR4, truly what the LR5 (D5) should have been. The LR4 was luxury, so too is the new Defender. Pricing is consistent with luxury.

Industry press is not landrover, you claimed LR said they moved the defender into the luxury market, that is false.

Defender is the modern interpretation of the same vehicle, being more capable, reliable and durable says it all, despite actually (heaven forbid being comfortable for more than 1hr behind the wheel)

They moved the Disco towards were RR was, RR into even more luxury market.

Defender has been updated to modern utilitarian standards, you can spec it basic or very comfortable, but not luxury. Go and sit in a RR vogue autobiography, that's the definition of luxury.

100% you can spec the defender with some luxury seats and removable carpet mats ontop of the rubber floor, this doesn't make it a luxury SUV, tones of people add that to the old defender too

Did you guys hear that the new Defender does not have solid axles? and no carburator? None of us will be able to take it to Africa. At best you may be able to drive it to Whole Foods in Palo Alto. If you're lucky.

I also hear because it has a touchscreen and comfortable seats it won't be able to drive Moab (despite the videos) or the Aussie Outback

Agree price takes into account value to LR's target market.

A very quick Jeep 'build' with Turbo-diesel and some options = $50K

The D110 will be pushing $100K out the door.
Comparing a jeep and a new defender as in the same league is pretty funny..defender is in a whole different class..it will have very few real competitors.

The Height adjustable durable monitored air suspension, TR2 and its wading depth sets it apart from the get go.

mpinco refuses to recognise it as a Defender solely because it uses modern tech and is better in every way. It is dear, but so was the old Defender -especially towards the end. To him "Defender" means "poor drive, ancient technology, sub-par performance compared to modern vehicles, and a ride so poor that no-one actually wants to drive it (as the sales numbers show of the old Defender).

LOL are you serious?! Pretty digital renderings are 100% irrelevant without measurements compared to LR3/4. To be clear with you, I am interested in it's dimensions, not if you think it's plenty of space for your needs or if you like it, etc. Are there any real data out yet on the few key numbers? Such as floor to ceiling, width at hatch and cargo area walls, length back of console to rear hatch, length back of 2nd row to hatch.

Design wise, I do not see me liking the window proportions sill to top relative to seat height and elbow level. It looks like the industry leading tall windows of the Discovery line which got reduced on the D5 is also shorter on this new Defender. It reminds me of the ************ interior view out from an FJ.
