They are hard to get too. I had to travel to Escondido California to get mine back in November. I am getting 10-13 miles per gallon !! Not good I thought at the beginning until I got the FJ cruiser which barely makes 13 !!! So it is not that bad considering my PW is lifted 4" and runs 37 inch tires.

I got it at invoice which was close to 35. I heard some got it at 28, that is good!!! Not sure though how easy is to negotiate price since they are hard to find.

I'm not sure yet which to make my new expedition vehicle, the FJ or the PW. I like the FJ more but it is too small. The PW is too large :( Tough call !!

My advice would be to go w/ the Diesel and put a quality aftermarket suspension on... I average about 18-19 mpg in my Dodge with lift and 35s (actually 315s...) The only issues I've had offroad are related to the size and weight of the truck... especially the front end. It certainly is less maneuverable than the Jeep, but is sooo much more comfortable and easier to pack etc.

Lorenz, Kore and Carli all make excellent suspensions for these trucks to make them comfortable and capable in the backcountry.

I'm new here but thought that I'd chime in about my PW.
It averages about 9.5 mpg with 305/70-17 MTRs on black steel wheels, 2 spares, about 300 pounds of gear, and a Ranch Hand front bumper.
The worst I've recorded in 2 years is 6.6 MPG.
I've put about 25000 miles on it, most of them in rough country and it has held up pretty well.
I hate the vinyl seats as they give you horrible swamp a.. in no time, but other than that no complaints.
If you need a full size truck to be able to get into remote locations it's the best I've seen.
Take it easy,

As they say Mopar or no power. I have 2 Diesel 1 tons, best trucks ever, allthough Toyota makes a bad copy of the 1/2 ton.

I've owned one since July

Hey guys! I bought a used 2006 Dodge Power Wagon in July of this year. I sold my 2003 Toyota Tacoma TRD D/C with LOTS and LOTS of mods. If I had the money, I would have kept the Toyota simply as a project vehicle, but as I had another child, and my needs have changed a bit, I'm am ion a position to need a plain ol' full size truck. I bought it used on ebay from a dealer, it had 25,000 miles on it, great conditon, and I paid $ 29,500. I believe that was pretty fair. I was sad to see the Taco go, but man, THIS TRUCK IS FRIKIN AWESOME! I am pretty much an adventurous guy, exploring to the most of my ability (time/familly and money) but like I tell my wife, exploring, 4x4, climbing rafting and hiking are my hobbies, I really don't don't spend $$ on anything else. The only downside I can see with the PW is the gas mileage, I am getting about 12mpg. OUCH! I understand the diesel comments, but the Cummins motor would make this truck NOT a Power Wagon. It is too heavy, too long (couldn't fit the winch), and has too much tourque. It simply wouldn't work with the purpose of this truck, which is to go OFF ROAD! The 5.7L Hemi with 4.56 gearing is plenty. Another downside is the width, and sheer bulk of the vehicle. However, if you can physically fit on the trail, this truck will go where you want it to go. I have several trail badges from rocks and trees so far, but that's OK, because that's why I bought the vehicle. The turning radius is awesome for a full size truck, I was out with a friend last night who had a 93 Toyota PU and we both did a multi-point turn on a ditchbank, and he was totally impressed with the agility and turning radius of my PW. I have rescued several friends out of a jam via winch and snatching, and I have had no problem at all with low range power. I can't wait to take it out on a long mileage journey, expedition style, and I am currently looking for any and all add on's and PW specific equipment. There really isn't much PW specific for this truck as of yet. Someday I would like to morph it into an expedition vehicle. I think others on a trip would appriciate having a PW on the trip to help get them out of a jam if neded, or to carry any extra equipment. As a firefighter paramedic, I guess I am just a helping kind of guy, I actually like helping folks. OK now I'm rambling, the PW is a great truck, and it is really growing on me. Take care and be safe out there guys! :)

Sounds like you're happy with it? :)

Love the power wagons (wish you could get them with less plush int for a lesser price) but an awesome full size p.u. in the heavy duty market.

OK OK I have to admit, the cost involved in owning this Power Wagon is getting to me. I figured it ot last night and it's running me about 1000 bucks a month in ownership/operating costs. Needless to say I have been looking at alternatives. I posted the Gas MPG thread to see just how everyone else out there is getting MPG wise and with what vehicles. I will keep the truck if I sell it to myself that some other vehicles are just as bad. Other wise I'm going back to Toyota simply based on gas prices.

Another issue I have started to have is the LACk of aftermarker add on's for the Power Wagon specific model. Example- ARB Bull Bar? Nope, they don't make it. I want to turn this into an expedition rig but it's not lookin good so far.
