8,000 mile update - Rover M/T Maxx Traction, 285/75R16
They are a great compromise between M+S and M/T.
Good wet and dry handling & braking, good handling in wet snow.
Great traction on slickrock, gravel, moderate sand, dirt and decent in moderate mud.
Noise is higher than the OEM Michelin LTX M+S, lower than standard M/T designs and comparable to the 1/3-worn Bridgestone Revo 2s on the other 80: it's noticeable but perfectly tolerable. At highway speeds the slipstream makes more noise than these tires.
I plan to buy another set if they continue to perform this well and are still in production when these wear out. The only improvement possible would be to make them available in the 255/85R16 size for better winter traction, lower rolling resistance and more ground clearance.
It took a lot of weight to balance them at the recent 6k rotate/balance, but there is a strong possibility that this may be due to a poorly equipped balancing machine at my local tire shop...
