I have been hanging around MUD for about a year or longer but constantly find myself here checking out the rigs, reading and learning. Figured I would join up and make it official. I had a H**p for awhile and the family just out grew the thing and I had always loved the 60 & 80 series LC's. Just never thought I could afford one but finally decided to make the leap and have never looked back. I have two young sons that love the LC as much as I do and we do all our own work on it. I taught my oldest (9) how to weld, grind and paint on the front bumper project. My youngest (7) just wants to be doing whatever I am doing (in the way) but I wouldn't have it any other way. I just allow double or triple the time when they "help".
My dad and I restored a '57 Chevy when I was younger and I loved spending time with him, learning and working together. I want my boys to have the same memories as they get older.
Here is a short picture story of my 80, nothing fancy but we did it all ourselves and had a blast doing it...
As purchased, pure soccer mom:
Tires & no lift - Cooper 285's - nothing special
Swapped a "TOYOTA" grill for the gold bling - I hate the gold!! Purchased for $25 and re-worked by me and the boys.
Tires / Lift / Painted Wheels
Custom front bumper by me & my boys
- 10K winch behind the cover.
I am looking forward to hangin out here, learning and reading about everyone's rigs. Of course there are plenty of other things we will do but only as money and time allow for. Rear bumper, tire carrier and roof rack will all be built in due time.
