new Headlight decisions

Planning on redoing the lack luster lights on my 98, but curious on options.
Already to purchase some aftermarket 99+ 4runner buckets, but wondering about the need to build a better wiring harness for the lights (or buy one), and if I should go with just a good halogen bulb (had good results with Sylvania Ultra’s in my Honda Element) , try some IPF Performance H4 Bulb or pop for some HID projector retrofits. Cost vs benefit ideas?
Thanks

I have Silvania Silver Star Ultra bulb in my stock buckets and they provide plenty of light. They were $40 after a $10 rebate.

Nothing fancy on my Truck either, just Silverstar replacement bulbs that can be purchased from any parts store. :sombrero:

Thanks ScottJ just book marked that site yesterday, but they seem out of harnesses.
Anyone use IPF performance bulbs?

Any thoughts on either glass or plastic lenses for the replacement buckets? Both seem readily available, kicking around the idea of going with some IPF 80/110 watt bulbs and a beefier harness.

thanks Josh

I've always used Hella bulbs and built my own harnesses using 30 amp relays, new sockets and 10ga. wire to the lights. Summit has a great selections of bulbs for about half the price of IPF bulbs. I'm running 90/130s in my Toyota (doesn't get a lot of street use) and 80/100s? in my van, Honda and Subaru without problems for years. I'd go for glass lenses, my Honda has glass and the Subaru is plastic and you can really see the difference (even when the plastic is polished).

Make sure you get bulbs mated to your housing. Here in Alaska, you see some guys running around with unfocused, near dangerous to on coming traffic, HID kits in factory non-HID housings. Waste of money and looks really dumb.
