I think I need a bigger truck!
Oh forgot to mention, I ordered a Rola basket rack today for the WK. $139.00 with free shipping and $59.00 for the extension kit. I found it online at Sears.ca with free delivery to the store just up the road! Should be here early next week!

Shhh.... don't tell my wife, she will kill me. lol I promised no more for a little while.

Man, haven't updated this in a long time. I havent done too much to this Jeep as I have been stockpiling stuff to sort out the XJ's suspension issues. Now that I have all of those parts in place, I am ready to rock on the WK. I have done a few minor things, and ordered some bits to get it sorted out.

1. Picked up a set of new (like 5000KM new Jeep Wrangler Moabs for it. LOVE the look, and wanted a set of 16's for the XJ. Paid $200.00 for 5 not a scratch on them
2. Did indeed get the Rola rack, but it didn't fit very well with the extension, so I sold that locally and just run the shorty basket
3. Ordered a 2.5" Rough Country Lift for it from Lowriders Unlimited in Vancouver (not yet installed)
4. Replaced the factory Driving Lights with a set of Seward Offroad Twin T-2 6 LED 1800 Lumen Spot Pattern Driving Lights (http://sewardoffroad.com/product/twin-t-2/)
5. Ordered a PILE of Car Audio stuff for it (sadly also yet to install it)
6. Had a custom 10" sub enclosure made for it
7. Picked up an ADD W-1 Oil Catcher for it (for the dreaded Hemi intake oil PCV mess)
8. Decided on tires, but need to wait until the Michelin AT's wear out

Pics, because it all did happen...

And that is about it for now. Going to replace the rear shocks with some Bilsteins and the front struts as well. They are all at 75K now, so are due.

More soon!

Built, not bought!
Looking good!! If you have not done so yet, you should replace the turn knobs on the stock rack rails with carriage bolts and washers and turn the Rola rack mounting harware upside down. It will allow the rack to sit about another inch lower.

Yeah I saw that mod a few weeks ago, and plan on doing it soon. The weather here has sucked the past few weeks/month, and with no garage, no work has been done on anything.

Nice in black Greg.

Be good to see it with the lift and out in that British Columbia scenery.

Thanks, cant wait to get out some more!

Wow, I have really not updated this thread much at all have I?

Since my last update above, I have re-done a LOT on this WK.

- RC Lift went in
- 255 x 75 x 17 Hankook AT went on
- JBA Upper Control Arms went in
- Car stereo was installed
- Rear Air Lift airbags went in
- All new strut assemblies went in
- Just ordered a set of adjustable Boss rear shocks (will see how I like these)

We also bought a little something to accessorize it with!

Have no fear, I still have the XJ and the Offroad Trailer too.

Where are you getting a 7200 lb towing capacity? All the information I can find is just a touch over 6100. You say "set up properly." What does that mean? I need something that will pull my XJ and a trailer. I've been looking for something in the 7500+ range. The Commander does that, but the second row seating has NO leg room for the kids. I like the idea of a Hemi WK.

EDIT - I found it. Geesh. I was looking at the GVW when I saw the 6100 number.

How do you like your black rock trailer? How does the jeep do towing it?

Hey there. We really like the Black Rock trailer. As far as travel trailers go it appears to be quite well made and the extra insulation is fantastic. It tows excellent behind the WK, with the exception of crosswinds. We live on an island in the North Pacific, and it gets pretty windy here...like always. I noticed that is a heavy crosswind it can get to be a little unnerving. Not scary, but the smaller size of the Jeep can be felt. As far as power and stopping, it handles it very well. No concerns there at all.

Heh... yeah, it's max is 7200# according to the owners manual and all the information I could find online. I checked WK Jeeps (best site ever for Jeep WK owners) and there is a comprehensive list of rates and so on for all models.

By properly set up I meant with a load distributing hitch and some additional rear support. I added Air Lift airbags, in the rear coils and they made a big difference in coil sway and overall feel. At 30 PSI they felt amazing with the trailer on there.

Both of your Jeeps look great! Your XJ with the trailer is a perfect package!

Thanks man, it turned out great!

I guess this is a bit of a close out on this thread...as I sold the WK only 4 weeks ago. It was a tough decision to sell it, and I actually miss it very much. The only thing softening the blow is the new to me 2014 Ram 1500 sport I picked up as its replacement. Oh and the fact that it went to a friend who will look after it more that I did.

:(

Now I loved the Jeep, but have been looking at Ram's for the past year or so. I have 4 or more friends with them, and they all speak very highly of them. I love the Hemi, and the Ram has the same powerplant, so that made it an easier decision. I was just looking at some used ones online and found one that was the perfect combination! Hemi, loaded up with all the good options and low miles. Went to look at it but it sold in 2 days. Ugh. They had another one coming in so I started looking around at more and other options.

I looked at Ford F150's, Rams, Titans, Tundras and even a Chev or two. The only ones I really liked and kept coming back to were the Ram and the F150. The Hemi won over the 6.2L Ford as it is much harder on fuel...but man what a nice motor. I am also more familiar with the Ram products and the devil you know is sometimes better that the devil you don't (as they say).

My new to me tow vehicle is a loaded 2014 1500 Sport with pretty much every option available. Tow rating is 10,200# stock with the 5.7L, the 8 speed and the 3.92 rear diff with LSD. SO far it is fantastic, and even getting better mileage than the WK was. More modern drivetrain helps a lot. Tossed on a tri fold hard tonneau cover to keep my junk dry and off we go.

Here she is...with brand new 20" BFG K02's on it (made the dealer toss them in).

Original stock OEM tires were not only weak, but to the wear bars bald...ugh, bald junk.

Pretty plush interior. I missed a black Sport Crew with full leather by 1 day as well. Man these trucks are popular here!

Can't wait to tow the trailer with this.

did you look into the GMC/Chevy heavily when making your decision? only reason I ask is that its looking like the Ram or a GMC will be replacing my WK sooner or later- love the look of the newer GMCs.
