Exactly:exclaim: It more about the journey and less about the vehicle you do it in.

nobody over there knows how far a plain jane toyota with a rear locker and some 31s maybe 32s will take you. thats my plan for my truck 32 inch super swampers radials(cause i live in florida and we get wet clay/mud when it rains) ome lift and an arb locker. then after that all my armor f/r bumpers with winch, sliders, and transfer case skid. then if the engine ever goes a 4bt swap with possible bio fuel set up. thats my master plan.

While the 4 B is a great motor it is a VERY heavy motor. The front suspension would need mods as well. Unfortunately there is few domestically available small diesels available right now. The 4B the engine being used in the Jeeps and the VWTDI. The Jeep motor, if of a Mercedes/Damler design might be a good choice.

Rumors of Toyota bring back diesels to the states are flying so by the time you are ready to do a conversion hopefully they will be here.

You can find Diesels that were never imported here at places like http://www.jarcoinc.com/.

I had intended to do a conversion with a 2LTE that literally would bolt in my truck. After weighing the pros and cons I rapidly found that the expense was never going to be recovered with the fuel saving. So the conversion was going to be more for a personal reason then a financial one.
