OBI still in business?

Looks like Opus has taken over the production line of the 13 and 15.

Good news for us as parts may be easier to get. Bunch of changes.

I saw one locally, it's a nice unit. Fundamentally the same. Lots of lay out changes and do-dads like electric top opening, additional sink and range inside. Can't say I care for any of that. Lost the awesome front tool locker, but guess you could move the bottles out. Rear rack is neat w 2 fuel can storage additional tire but makes me worry abought lightening issues in the front to much like the 15's have.

So this week, I’m getting new tires put on. It’s also supposed to snow this week so instead of picking up the trailer and taking it over there, but decided just to pull the wheels off and take the tires over.

The road wheels came off piece of cake no issues.

I got the spare tire wheel off, holy pain in the ass I don't know what they put that thing on with, but if I had a flat, I would never have gotten it off.

I had to use a breaker bar because my storage unit I keep my trailer in. I was too close to the back wall for the impact gun. I was hanging off of the breaker bar and it wasn't budging. I had to use the jack handle as a lever on it brace against the bumper and pull it down to get it to come off.

Levitating trailer lol.

New shoes will be on Friday.

So last night we had a snow storm .. and temps dipped. This morning I see that my lithium batteries are dead (they were at 50% capacity the night before). So the trailer is stone cold .. can't even run the Truma. Tried running the litime charger to bring them back to life but that flashes red, indicating a fault. Have they shut down due to the cold temps ? If so, I guess the only thing i can do is to somehow warm up the trailer and try the charger agani? Anyone else been through this?

Not sure why they would discharge so quickly in moderately cold temps but they definitely won’t charge in the temp you describe. If they don’t have internal heaters, then wake them up after heating them up to high 40’s at least. My Lion LiFePOs have to be woken up after a cold temp shutdown by pressing a button on the top of each battery.

ok well after several hours of heating up the trailer with a buddy heater... they sprang back to life... and are charging again ... phew!
Seems like I need to devise a system to keep that battery compartment warm on the cold nights.... any ideas?
For starters, it's being discussed in this thread right now too:

Jealous! so looking fwd to getting rid of my Chinesium 'Triangle' tires - lol

😆

yeah, that was the second modification I did with shocks being the first. Tires are three years plus old at this point a used trailer, although it was in great shape so I don’t think it did anything but sit. New tires was second on the list of things to do. I’ve got at least 2500. Maybe 3000 miles of towing this summer coming up.

next upgrade actively working on now is replacing the lead acid with either three lithium or preferably, going with one large unit. I need to go measure my batter box space and see what will fit in that space.

Well ordered my new battery,

https://www.litime.com/products/litime-12v-300ah-lifepo4-lithium-battery

The 400 and 460 amh use the same case and would fit but the 300 is on sale. I could not pass up the $ value of the 300 over the "bigger" units.

Will still be doubling my usable amh over the 3 lead batt's, more even given how poor condition they were in. Bet I wasn't getting more than 75 usable amp hr out of them last summer.
Do these units have built-in heaters and low temp protection? Seems like a very good value if they do!!

Those Triangle tires are junk, replaced them last summer after a bad blow out. I fit 3 140AH Litime lifepo4 batteries in my D13, exact same size as the AGMs. Big difference. Don't forget to change your inverter / charger settings :)
