Matt that is one fine looking blazer! is the body hanging in there?

I have always liked your clean old Blazer. Love that it is you daily driver too. :victory:

Thanks! Don't let the camera fool you it's definitely a 20 foot vehicle. As in it looks really good from 20 feet away. Plenty of rock chips and and pin-striping in the paint.

As to rust my rockers were/are bad and I cleaned them up and fiber glassed it for now. I also have a dent on the driver side rear quarter. One of these days I will cut it all out and weld in new sheet metal. Luckily for me it had a frame off restoration in 98 where they blasted and then rhino lined the interior and underside as well as the engine compartment. I have very little rust for a 40 year old vehicle. Mechanically it's been a challenge, but I have pretty much been through it end to end and it's as reliable as it can be now.

I snagged a 77 Blazer K5 frame and running gear and transplanted My 74 FSJ body on it. I got it going last week finally and love the way it runs, sits and works. I have a whole new appreciation for the Blazers. :wings:

Go Jeep!

IIRC there is a guy using a 48 or 49 Willys CJ2a for his expo rig on here, isn't there? So unless your running a WWII or old wooden wheel thats gonna be hard to beat! LOL!

Hey Alex,

I'm in Houston. Where are you in west Texas? My '77 Scout II is about to be done, but in a few years, depending on market conditions, I want to upgrade the truck to 4WD and eventually manual, maybe.

Please tell me that the Scout II's been in the family all these years and you decided to fix it... I wish I had thought of that when Dad's Scout 80 broke down.

Im in El Paso. Thats what my dad's scout is. Its got the 196ci? I4 with a 5 speed, and 4 wheel drive. he had another one that had the 345 V8 and an auto, but we had to sell that one. :( He's owned it for at least ten years, I still remember the day we bought it. :) I'll try and post up some pictures. They wont be pretty, as its been sitting for a couple years. My dad and I just dont have the time to work on it. BUt I have decided I wanna fix it, I just need to figure out what all's wrong with it. :snorkel: I know that the front axle, passenger side shock mount needs to be welded back on, and theres a problem with either the fuel delivery or ignition. But once I figure that out, it should be good. My mom drove it for about a year after our van died. :) And this truck isnt small either. Its got about 3ish inches of lift and 33's. It stands like 7 feet tall. :) Im hoping to slap on a RC 4 inch lift after I get it fixed. :victory:

My deuce and a half was manufactured in 1963, and re-manufactured in 1988, and is being re-manufactured again right now (by me).

For a long distance off-road/on-road travel (i.e. expedition) rig, as opposed to just a rig you go camping in, I'm guessing Teriann Wakeman's 1960 Land Rover 109 is one of the oldest for forum members.

Going to have to send in photos

Off road vehicles go back quite a way in our family. My oldest was a 1941 dodge (pre-powerwagon). Then moved up to a 1960 Chevy crummy, something like a suburban but with popout windows and wooden benches along the sides behind the front seat. The Chevy is still in the family and is being re-built slowly by my daughter. My son has a 1969 Ford F 100 short box that he is getting ready to sell and I just re-inherited our 1971 Ford F 250. I am going to finish the F 250 and set it back up as a expedition vehicle.
