Overland Journal: G-Wagen

Hi Scott,

Can I get your rig's mod spec? I am looking into either a 200 or your G as the next adventure rude. Upgrading from my 100.

Thnx

Curious to hear what you're looking for in a G vs your 100.

Did you get it out without shoveling? My G is never like that after a snow storm cz I'm out driving it all the time.

Nope, packed snow was up to the windows and snow plows buried me in. I was out driving for a little, but ended up having to rescue way too many cars with bald tires and called it a day. Plus there was an ESV only rule on the roads in effect pretty early.

MK,

I have had the 100 so long that I just wanted something different. I love the look of the G and the triple locking diff feature. I drove my cousin's G55 for awhile as a DD and didn't like the 55 street trim. What I'd like to get is Scott's set up. Aesthetic to me is as important as real world performance.

Nothing wrong with my 100 it has given me years of enjoyment especially taking me to many remote areas and bringing me back home safely.

I still love my 100 but time to step into something different.

Oh and the ability to run 35's. Cheers!

Copy that. You've gotten bored with Toyota yawnability so it's time for some German engineering. ;)
As you've probably found, 35's are possible but not easy-slap-on-and-run.

Just had a nice little camping trip with the G-Wagen. I am not a fan of heavy roof loads, but I wanted to try the lightest hard shell possible. Must say it was pretty dang comfy and easy to access via the little ladder on the back. The weight was ok on the trail and the road. Going to try a few nights sleeping inside next to compare.
