Alot done today, replaced a loose idler arm, this one was twice ss thick and way more beefy same part# as before. Changed oil and filter, cardboard aided design the front diff skid, got the bumper supporta welded on ( only problem I will have to cut them off to remove the bumper), welded on one recovery point.20201010_170742.jpg20201010_170748.jpg20201010_223349.jpg20201010_223355.jpg20201010_223405.jpg

Yes the welds are rough, I'm using my 110 flux core welder on 5/8" thick stuff, first weld slow by turnind down the wire speed. Preheating helps a ton, purposely leave a gap to fill further slowing down the speed. I was able to heat the 5/8 while welding to the point the opposite side was cherry. I think I got good penetration I was able to stick a 3/4" solid bar in the whole and bebd the bar without the mount moving, that said I'm going to fish plate the flush side for more weld contact.

Fish plated the d-ring mounts and got mr rear recovery point done. Let that sucker cool slowly by dousing in aand and letting it sit.20201011_113109.jpg20201011_131336.jpg20201011_132125.jpg20201011_153155.jpg20201011_153223.jpg20201011_153619.jpg

So being down from my eye I lost about a weeks worth of work and again the sliders didn't get done. I would really like to replace the rockers before welding on the sliders but that is going to require paint and if I'm going to paint the rockers I need to paint the whole lower portion of the doors and the bumpers and sliders.

Delays suck.

So was that weld slag in the eye? I hope it is getting back to 20/20 for you.

The #rendezvousintheozarks was great over 650 rigs showed up. I ran a bunch of trails with #smsoverland it was a great long weekend. I ran the suburban through stuff I probably shouldn't have been on. The Ozarks get terribly muddy but we are in a dry spell well we was the night before I left it rained all night and I backed out of my last trail day being alone. The first day was a road day 6.6 hours on the road but there are views on the highway too. We ran the back way into byrds adventure center from ozark Arkansas 20201015_144654.jpg20201015_154104.jpg20201015_154801.jpg20201015_154837.jpg20201015_173551.jpg
