Modified the EMS Offroad latch. Its a 90 degree latch and works great when you can secure it at over 90, I couldn't place mine in a position to make it over 90. You can see I notch the handle portion to close about 3/8" further and allowed me to meet that at or just over 90 angle that is needed.20200829_125111.jpg20200829_132942.jpg.

thats freakin awesome!! excellent work. I found on my latch i rigged up a couple of washers so it was always pulling straight against the stop. I actually had the U bolt break and it was cause I tensioned it at a odd angle because the pin kept sliding down in the hole on the lock /handle portion

Started on the sliders/ steps two pieces of tube bent at a 45* and two notches on the ends allows me to put the steps at whatever width I need, this was the most simple two tube slider I could think of. I printed these patterns off and its actually faster to cut the notches this way than with the tube notcher.20200831_223906.jpg20200831_223917.jpg20200831_225648.jpg20200831_225510.jpg

looking good sir! had the same issues with the ems latch ended up using a destaco straight pull latch that also has a secondary latch to keep it from opening unintentionally.

I think with that little modification I made the EMS latch is going to work great I have plowed speed bumps and one short section of washboard and it didn't pop open...

So Thursday night was crunch time I wanted to leave out early and get to the camp spot and hang out and fish but my grinder smoked and got really hot before I could get the plate cut for my mounts, got out in the shop just feeling disgusted and was looking at the grinde flipped the switch and it worked so I cut out the mounts in my PJ's. But ran out of wire before I got it all welded... i bolted it ip and headed out anyway. 20200904_155016.jpg20200904_155022.jpg20200904_154015.jpg

Sms overland trip. Did about 500 miles total and at least one third was dirt. First day was a seeing trip with alot of road miles. Highest point in Missouri, tallest water fall in the state, an electric site where they pump water from a lower reservoir to the upper and let it drain again to make electricity, royal gorge.20200905_140313.jpg20200905_140709.jpg20200905_104317.jpg20200905_140709.jpg

Second day was trail day. Lots of forest roads, dust, recreation area in the national forest, dust, some poorly maintained gravel, dust, some creek crossings and yes dust. Dont the Mark Twain National Forest look so inviting 20200906_093613.jpg20200906_095910.jpg20200906_165148.jpg20200906_153708.jpg20200906_153034.jpg20200906_153235.jpg
