Good story, and very possible that it could happen to anyone here:Wow1:
Man, that's quite the camping trip! Thank God or which ever higher power you believe in for your friend and his firearm!

no hand gun, illegal to carry a hand gun in canada unless going to a range. often carry a shotgun or rifle though. only ever wanted the shot gun for bird and skeet though.
not wanting too make things worse the fire extinguiser would be used before the gun
maybe all you need to be is crazy with the extinguisher
One big point about "heat". This is an expedition travel forum. Many "expeditions" cross international borders. Virtually all countries outside the US have strict laws against carrying firearms, particularly handguns; including and especially Canada.
What's the take on that?

if you wonder away from a populated area the worst you are likely to find is a curios/hungry animal. go just far enough that occasional visiters come by and trouble isnt far behind.
isnt that common sence?
i travel with a dog or two and nobody just shows up unexpected.
yep, i carry for the one percenters
i also have a fire:victory: extinguisher
Hehe...fracking great idea!:victory:The question about carrying across borders.
When we traveled into Mexico, I stored our guns at a friends house in Arizona. But I went to a boating store and purchased a Flare Gun.
Since we carry kayaks with us while traveling, it would never seem out of place in the center console. Something tells me a 12 gauge flare to the chest would probably do more damage than almost any gun you could carry, sans the Desert Eagle .50 cal.
Something to think about while traveling, and like the other member said, it works as a dual purpose tool since if you become stranded, your self defense tool just became a life saver of another sorts
