Yeah, I would take the kayaks and anything else easily removed into the house for the night and then quietly watch...

Too bad you cant connect the sheetmetal on the truck to 110V shore power somehow... then just go outside when the circuit breaker in the house trips ;)

Remove shore power... and dial 911.

Ha, that would be too much fun. Is that evil to think that:sombrero:

Where are they coming from, Eugene or are they local? Why is it so prone to thievery?

-Max
Eugene and Springfield are basically sister cities, so everything is local. But yeah, it would either be someone in the complex since I park my truck where only I and people in the complex can see it or it was one of the tweakers who live under the bridge down the road from us. They often pass through. A few weeks ago we found one sleeping in our laundry room. The guy pulled a gun on me.

The area is so prone to crime due to the huge Meth problem, low wages, and few job opportunities. The area is also very secluded. You have Eugene and Springfield and not much more around so people seem to go crazy. Anyways, I am going to try to see what I can dig up for the trip. I need to see if I can get the same stuff for cheaper. Maybe try and call the companies I bought the stuff from and see if I can get a loyal customer discount or something.

thieves suck in the worst way

Phil I am reading through your thread for an update on your build and I came to this. Its a grim tale and I was sorry to read that you have been worked over by some local meth junkie. I would say that if the Kayaks where being taken off as well that this was more than just your typical one man operation. Like the Doc already said I am sure one guy did not just jog off with all your gear in hand, by his/her lonesome. I would say at least a couple of thiefs. I hope you find you gear, I would check in at the local pawn shops as I have had similar car jackings and twice I located my equipment and most of my gear in the local pawn shops. One of the two times the moron junkie was actually stupid enough to sell it on consignment and I was able to get his address and go see him in person. He turned out being a 17 year old high schooler, who's parents I got to sit down with and eventually the police came and sited this goomba. In any case I am just as mad to hear that you were targeted like this especially prior to your big trip. I am not sure if you have figured out what you absolutely need for the trip, but you should post it up and maybe us fellow members can do something for you. I do not have a HiLift extreme, but mine is a very workable 48" 7000lb unit. If you do not track one down and you don't mind covering shipping. I will send it out to you. Please keep us posted on this.

Thanks man! Welcome to ExPo by the way. Sweden has always held an interest to me. It's really sad that things are not like that here.

Thanks! I headed down to the bridge on the way to work this morning and did not see any of my stuff down there. The tweekers were still sleeping in there sleeping bags when I got there. A few were up and tweeking out already. I am also going to go to the closes pawn shop to our apartment at lunch and see what I can find.

As far as stuff goes. Thank you for the offer of the Hi-Lift. That means a lot, but that is being delt with as I speak. I called and emailed some people about gear. We'll see how that goes.

Thanks again:26_7_2:

Sounds good Phil keep us posted and just let me know if you are unable to track anything down on such short notice before you leave. I've got a few extras and would be happy to see them on over to you and out on some adventures. At least I could enjoy the travels in proxy right;) Good luck and keep at it. With hope you may still see some of your gear.

Geez Phil... you're becoming the hard luck kid around here.

I was all set to post props on all of the new goodies mounted up. The pics looked great. Gonzo adventure style....

Sorry this happened to you. I hope everything works out -

I emailed Expedition Exchange last night asking if I could get any loyal customer discount or something on new Wedco NATO Jerry Cans. We'll see how that goes. As far as the rest of the stuff, I can deal without. I found a used Wilson 5000 on ebay for really cheap, so I will see how that pans out. The camping gear is easily delt with.

Thanks again:26_7_2:

I'm really sorry to hear what happened to you. Here in Klamath Falls, it's getting to be the same. The meth problem is out of control, no jobs, etc. Anyway, I can't remember where you are going on your trip, but if you are heading south, I have two Wedco gas cans you can use. They are just sitting in my garage.

It seems to be a really growing problem all over Oregon. Very sad indeed. Thanks for the offer, but the gas can problem is officially dealt with. Thanks everyone for willing to help. Now back to getting my truck all ready. Sunday before all this happened I found a terrific deal on PIAA 510s so I will be getting those at the end of the week and a pair of Hella 500s from Expedition Exchange.

That's definitely not a distinction I am proud of. Soon enough my luck will turn around. Hopefully in a few months I can shed that distinction:peepwall:
Thanks for the compliments on the truck. It is getting built around the kayaks. They come first. That is certainly posing many challenges as I wish I had room for a basket, but I think the current set up will do nicely. Luckily, they did not steal any of the important and really expensive stuff. Morons!

Well I now have my supplies gathered up again and a new set up. I received this Thule M.O.A.B and other stuff on Thursday.

Basically I have two set ups going.

My Kayaking Trip set up.

Phil,
Would you do me a favor and post a pic of the CBI rear bumper from the side of the pivot? I'm toying the idea of getting a aux tank so I need to move the spare tire to the back. My camper stick out pass the edge of truck bed and I'm not sure the pivot will clear it.

Thanks!
Alex
