Yeah it turned out real nice, even looks good in person.

Tonight I wired in a brake controller I snagged at a swap meet for 5$! Did some research and this controller ranges anywhere from 85-100$

I love being cheap. So far only 2800$ invested in this truck including purchase price

Boy, you have done a really nice job with this truck. Paint job looks great. I have to say I think I like it more than your other truck, and that is saying something. I'm really impressed with your thrifty skills as well. Thumbs way up. FWIW that truck would be worth an easy 6-8g here in BC.

Andrew, what is that chrome? I don't think I have seen it on a stock truck before...

The wife HATES all black vehicles but now may wan't me to do the same as you.:costumed-smiley-007

I imagine you are refering to the chrome beading on the dually flares? It is some chrome edgeing that I picked up at O Riellys for 10$ comes in a 18' roll. It was on the box when I got it and I thought it looked pretty good so I got some new and replaced it. It also helps with rock beating up the edges of the flares also.

Or were you refering to the drip rail chrome? That is from an early 80s custom royal or whatever they called there top of the line truck back then. its pretty hard to find it on ex cabs and crews. I got mine for 20 bucks at a U-Pull yard.

Darth Vader would be proud to drive that baby! It looks like serious business, but with a touch of elegance from the Alcoas and chrome trim! Nice job.

Yeah it has kind of a sinister look to it being all black, I'm really diggin it. The old truck sure draws a lot of stares now when tooling around.

Today I cleaned on the interior a little more, Its still not as clean as it could be but its gettin closer

Couple pics.

Then, kinda made me wanna puke, it was absolutely disgustingly gross. I don't know how someone can stand to drive somthing that disgusting.

I dont know how you guys find these great deals on old cummins LOL every time I find one in my area they are USUALLY beat up junk AND over priced
or just WAY overpriced. Then Guys like you find servicable trucks for a great price..... can I borrow your rabbits foot or something ********.

I wanted to mention your run away story made me laugh pretty hard. My uncle had a mid 80's dodge 3/4T long bed regular cab, gas engine and 4 speed. It was nic named runaway because for some reason it had a tendancy to do just that. I dont remember how many times it ran away but I remember a few of them. The one that sticks out and relates to your is he was at a store and jumped in the truck pushed the clutch and started it and the hydro clutch hose either broke or popped off or something and it jumped forward. My uncle grabbed the stick to pull it into nuteral and accidently pulled it into second and it drove over the hood of the car parked in front of him.
-
I remember another time I was actually with him we stopped at a gas station to run in and grab some sodas he left it running and jammed the e-brake down. We went inside and as I was walking up to the counter I herd my uncle yell "you son of a b*&^@&, get back here!" as he ran out the door. I looked out the window and sure enough the truck was making its way onto the roadway with fairly busy traffic, nobody was in it it was just trying to run away. One other time I remember he had backed his boat into the lake, nuteral and set the brake, jumped out to unhook the boat from the trailer and the truck took off up the boat ramp dragging the boat up onto the cement.
-
Somehow the transmission would just fall into gear, I do remember the stick would rattle and bounce while in nuteral and idling. Ha Ha good memories. But I hope you dont have any more Runaways!

Well my 93 was'nt really saftley servicable and it was beat up junk but the price reflected that. That deal just fell into my lap.

I had an old 75 Chevy mud truck that would do that, You had to make sure it was in park and make sure you pushed the shifter forward or it would rattle and drop into reverse. I had 1 time where I went in to get some sodas and a pack of smokes and a guy came in and said is that you truck backing up? I was like, might be? I went outside and i could hear it then I heard a loud crunch before I made it around the corner to see where it was at. The truck had done a complete reverse u turn and was rolling into a place that restore ************** old school muscle cars and I thought Oh Siht, luckily it just backed into a 2000 vintage chevy pickup. It was a good thing I knew the owner of the shop well, he could have made it a lot worse for me as I was still on an SR22.

I also had an incedent at the same gas station about a year prior to that, same scenario went in to get a soda and smokes and when I came out some shmuck had pull up to within half a foot of my bumper and the sun was setting so I couldn't see him in my mirrors, needless to say I stuck my hitch through his grille.

But as of now my driving record is 100% clean!!!!!! knock on wood.
