Pics of your VAN! Post up!

Unless plans change a lot, 2" would be the most I'd go. I'd like an inch, but don't feel it'd be worth the trouble.

The rear is finally starting to settle after new springs earlier this year. I'd like to see how much they settle before changing anything up front.

this is what i did for the first go round, mind you, this is a 2wd, 1/2 ton cargo van, 4.6 gas, non ambo, etc etc etc, it likely won't be the same on your rig, but the shock would probably be ok.

What he said....^^^^
I went from new stock KYBs to the Bilsteins rated for the 7.3. I've also got Moog CC880S springs, and a Monroe steering stabilizer. Works well enough for most stuff. No doubt, the Weldtec bent beams and Fox shocks would up my van's game but my cash outlay was much less, so I'm not complaining.

Recently did a quick remodel of my interior and 08+ front end conversion before our upcoming trip out west. Still a few more things to finish up before we leave on Friday! Heading out to San Deigo to have Weldtec Designs install a custom lift in the Chinook.

Let see a build thread on this rig, did you re-do the whole interior? Nice job

Maybe I'll start a build thread soon, I have one going on the Chinook forum. Figured I'd wait to start a build thread here till I got the lift done and started with some of the cooler mods like the custom rear bumper/motorcycle carrier a buddy is making me. As for the interior, we painted, wallpapered, re-upholstered everything, did new IKEA door fronts on all the cabinets and doors, new flooring, removed the microwave and added an oven, new sink & faucet, new dinette, new countertops, re-designed one side of the dinette seat to pull out for better sleeping options, new led lights, etc.

Welcome Willywalderbeast. That's kind of fun to say. Which Chinook model do you have? It's obviously a side door model, just curious if it's a Glacier or a Concourse/Premier. I've always loved them and looked for one for awhile but we bought a small Itasca this year instead. The Concourse was just too small for the 4 of us and the Glaciers are a bit high.

Nice work inside. I'd love to see the rest. If that's a side door Concourse it's REALLY rare! I've only ever seen one.

Hi Scotty. It is a '98 Side Entry Concourse! Which from everything I read said they stopped making side entry an option in '96, would make it rather rare. I search for over a year to find a side entry with the V10 opposed to the 460. The main reason was so I can hang a motorcycle on the back and not have to deal with interfering with the entry. There were never any SE Glaciers made since that was a later model (early 2000s it started). Since I'm getting some interest in the rig I'll probably make a build thread so I don't highjack this thread.

From our trip picking it up, flew into Portland OR and drove it home to CT!

Wow. That is a rare beast!

There is interest here, it's just that there is no perfect place for RVs on Expo. Just put it here or in the 'Expedition campers' section and I'm sure if the mods don't like it they can move it. It's both, though. I've wanted to share some mods on my Itasca but it's still mostly just a motor home and not really 'Expo' related at all. If I convert it to 4x one day then I'll show it off.

You should be fine in this forum... they've not chased me away yet and I'm not planning any around the world trips (maybe I shouldn't have admitted that). :D

Mine will likely never be a 4x4. With 6000 lbs on the rear axle and a LSD it'll go everywhere I want it to go. It's more of a multi use camper. If I want to go further the Fj40 will be called into duty. So far conversion has been delayed by mechanical needs. Now that they're mostly taken care of, more can be done on upgrades to the sleeping area.

Just purchased this van:

Paid a good amount less than asking, she will be shipped east and 4wd converted. I'm excited to join the van community!
