Well I can finally post up a pic of mine now thats its back in my truck after a partial refurb and new paint. 1988 fleet and 2012 tacoma DCLB with OME extra heavy kit.

Replying to an old post here but had a question regarding your setup. If you ever needed to stealth camp, how would you close yourself into the camper, as well as closing the gate? Or is it just impossible lol. Been thinking about going this route but worried about this being a problem.

Replying to an old post here but had a question regarding your setup. If you ever needed to stealth camp, how would you close yourself into the camper, as well as closing the gate? Or is it just impossible lol. Been thinking about going this route but worried about this being a problem.

Well, I wouldn't be able to close the swing away. I don't really ever stealth camp so it's not a problem. Ron

The trouble with using a truck camper on a 4WD is that all but a small 3-4 inch lift gets you up too high especially with a hardside. So, that's my lift: 3 inches loaded with 35 inch tires. Originally 10 feet tall I now scrape the sky with a 10foot, 4 inch overall height.

and a comparo with my bro's '99 Ford stock height and tires with a 9.5 foot pop up. His Ford is lower to start with than my Dodge which has a higher bed level, but I now have the clearance I need for hard core truck camping.
