Dude, that rig is the definition of "cool"! And I'm sure its more than "Overland" capable! Can't wait to see some project pages! Rover on!

Some don't like the look or build but Its nice to know some do. The next big thing is some Sliders and then like a exo cage for the fenders that will tie into the front bumper.Some relatives from England and a family they know from Texas hired two fully kitted out Defender 110's for a week to wander around the Scottish Highlands and Islands (this was just last week).
I joined them for a couple of days with my own 110 and then left them to travel on their own.
Weather was...er...um...'interesting' varying to 'grim' - rain, gales, more rain, more gales, more rain, sunshine (one day), more rain, gales. However I think they enjoyed it - it was certainly dramatic, but could have been kinder to them.
On the 'upside' the light was 'spectacular' which you'd not get on a calm sunny warm kind day!
The 110's had everything - fridge, cooking kit, water, chairs, a wood stove, awnings, etc etc etc. Good way to try one of these vehicles out if you're intending buying one. (They were both 2.2 or 2.4TDCi engines).

Do you happen to know what company they hired from and the average cost? I plan to be in England over the Christmas holiday to see my lady's mother and I would sure love to hire a Defender.

Hi Victory - yes the company is Scotland Overland here based in Central Scotland. Hire rates are pretty reasonable (I think) for what you get (I have no connection with the company). It's around £170 high season per day (May to September) and £130 low season (November to February). So that's a four/five seater with sleeping for four on top (with the bigger tent).
I was VERY impressed with the kitting out of the vehicles. Nothing done on the cheap. ALL the kit is top spec stuff from the best manufacturers in the world, and the maintenance is immaculate - both vehicles were pristine and obviously well looked after.

Nice pics. I just had the racing stripes buffed out of the paint this week.....well, those that could be buffed out that is. Honestly, the only reason I did it was because I am down for surgery and I wanted to put my hood blackout on clean and clayed paint...ahhaha.
The cleanliness is short lived I'm sure. Rover on.
