Post pictures of your Roof Top Tent's Interiors

I'd like to invite everyone to post pictures of your RTT's interiors. I'm keenly interested in what you've chosen for your bedding, how you've setup the bedding, and what else you've added to make the interior more functional to meet your needs.

As soon as we get our RTT and figure out our setup, I'll post up my own details and photos.

I've used my individual army issue sleep system, a double sleeping bag, and random bed sheets with blankets. As soon as Tepui restocks their sheets, I'm going to pick up a set to leave in the tent. I prefer sheets and pillows, I find I sleep much better and don't overheat like I tend to with sleeping bags.

For my James Baroud, it's a queen size bed effectively. Threw a tarp under the matress to keep it off the fiberglass, bought some Queen-size sheets for over the matress, 2 wool blankets from Harbor Freight (in case), and a Rumpl blanket.

So far, so good.

A good set of cool sheets and a good comforter make it so much better. We have recently added a powerful 12 volt fan, some led lighting, and USB charger ports. I will try to post some pictures later but wanted to reply now so I would be subscribed to the thread. I am sure this one will be epic.

I'd love to see how you guys are adding electrics to thes RTT's. Things like the LED lighting and use charge ports.

We mounted the roof top tent a couple of weeks ago along with the awning. Before throwing it on the roof I finally made some additions I have been meaning to do for a couple years.

I wired up some led lights, some USB ports for charging devices, and a 12 volt outlet for running a fan.


These additions made a world of difference on our last camping trip.

My inside setup:
1) First of all, I bought a thin blanket that I wrap around the RTT's supplied pad just to help keep it clean. I then originally put a 1-1/2" gel topper inside a small double-sized sleeping bag (to keep the topper clean). Very comfortable, however it was too thick to leave inside my Tepui Ayer RTT when closing it up, and it also took too much space inside my trailer to store it while driving. So I ended up taking the topper out (left the bag in the RTT), then bought two Exped Syncellmat 5 sleeping pads which add the extra padding I like. The pads are very quick to inflate and deflate. Our single sleeping bags then go on top of everything with a small blanket for each. Its all very comfortable!

2) I have two of these small hammocks that hang from the top sides along the frame, which the wife and I use to store whatever in at night. Great space saver, especially since it's a small RTT. I also have a similar hammock that hangs below the RTT for shoes.

3) I hang a small battery powered fan/light combo from the top for added airflow when it's hot or for just some white noise if unfortunately that's needed. Usually I always leave the side windows unzipped some for airflow, so the fan isn't often needed.

4) I also keep a small flashlight and misc. items in the side pockets.

The Ayer as said is a small RTT. So we don't tend to hang out in it other then when asleep. It's like a cocoon!

I see you use your bungees. Have you had any issues with the seams near the windows?

I'm using a double sleeping bag and several down pilows for bedding and a pair of Coleman combination LED light/fans mounted to one of the steel roof hoops using Ram Mount adjustable claws. A photo of the fans is in the following post: http://expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1866221

I do not have any pics of the interior when out camping, these were in my parking spot at home.
I use a heavy weight winter down comforter with flannel sheets.
It is the same setup I use on my bed at home too, very comfortable.
Two full size pillows also.
This is a very comfortable setup, and I also have the additional mat from Autohome that goes underneath the mattress.

When it comes time to pack up the tent, I fold the comforter and arrange the pillows and ladder like this.

I see you use your bungees. Have you had any issues with the seams near the windows?

No issues at all. My bungees are only tight enough to pull the fabric in when folding. There shouldn't be much tension at all.

Good bedding makes a world of difference in the RTT. I used sleeping bags for a while but when I switched to good sheets, pillows and a comforter I fell in love all over again.

I'm using sheets, since Tepui just came out with custom fitted sheets for their tents. I also added some LED lights to make it easier to see after dark.
