Here's my 1999 stock Montero on a trip around northern AZ and southern Utah a couple months ago. I've had it a little over a year, and haven't done much to it besides remove the sidesteps (causing plenty of complaints from my wife). Hopefully I'll be able to start modding soon, as money permits. Lots of inspiration on this site...

Your truck looks nice. I like them in white.

Here's my wife's 99. All stock with 31" tires.
We might be selling it because we want to get a 2006.
Love these trucks!

I've been hosting pics via facebook and slowly the pics are disappearing. Here are some of the more recent ones from Big Bend State and National Parks from last November. (attached via ExPo)

Scott, how do you like the Duratracs on the Montero? What size are you running?

Oh...and nice photos!

I love them and have been a major proponent of using Duratracs. A very well rounded tire for overlanding. Size is 33x12.50 on the stock wheels. They're wearing in the middle more than I'd like, but that's the price I pay, I reckon. When I need new tires I'm going to 255 or 285 16s anyway so the investment in new 15" wheels doesn't make sense. I'm only losing a few miles of use out of the tires with the current set up.

I'll probably get another set of duratracs later. I also like the Mickey Thompson MTZ. I tend to take notes from the Australians. They tend to know which tires are most durable and reliable for the mixture of terrains they encounter and it seems the MTZ is a top pick.

Frame swap is complete...out and about running errands!

Yes, I know this looks like a run of the mill 1995 SR...but in fact, it's a 1995 SR body and driveline on a 1993 SR frame (which is the same as a 1994+ LS frame, and does NOT feature the 1" body lift that the 1994+ SR's have!).

To compensate for the lost 1" lift from swapping frames, I put in a Roger Brown/4Crawler 2" body lift (netting me 1" lift), and Ironman rear springs and T-bars (1.6") on 31's. The 31's will be replaced with 33's when the tread gets low enough to justify the cost! ;)

How do you like the Ironman suspension? Why did you choose that over OME? How hard was it to do the front end? I've never messed around with T-bars, only traditional springs and shocks. Are you keeping your sway bars?
