Hey guys I'm Monty98 from monterosportonline.com! Good to see some Monty's over here at expeditionportal! I'm looking into the overland and long/extensive camping myself so I came here for advice, here's some non-action shots of my rig.
What you see is a
-torsion bar crank in the front
-added and recurved leafs in the rear
-a spare tire carrier off a 1997 Montero Sport that I added to my 1998, still in progress
-just some el-cheapo "off-road" 100w halogen lights on the front
-31x10.5x15 BFG A/T's that have roughly 40,000 miles on them, so I get some new ones before the summer! (if the wife lets me haha)
Where has the money gone you ask? Well routine maintenance since I got it in 2009, all ball joints, right control arm, wheel bearings, engine gaskets, spark wires, tires, suspension work, exhaust.
I've been delaying the work for timing belt, water pump, and front and rear cam seals....eeek...long over due, but might wait until it warms up a bit! (to work on it)
Oh, and I am at 140,000 miles right now. Still going strong :wings:
