Well, after a couple of years of wanting a 'burb, I'm finally joining your ranks! I went back and forth on the 3 main generations that are well represented here, 73-91, 92-99, and 00-06. All have their pluses and minues, but when it came down to it for me and what it'll be used for, I went with the later model. I picked this up last Friday night. It's an '05 Z71 model, don't laugh at the 20" "DUBS", they'll be coming off soon enough.

Plans for now, I'm sure it'll evolve:

Fuel Pump - slow starting right now
Change out Wheels and Tires to 17" wheels, and an A/T type tire
Ford Torsion Keys or equivalent in front ~ 2"
Coil Spacers in rear ~ 2"
Air Lift towing bags

Fuel Pump - slow starting right now

Congrats!!

If your Sub is cranking over but not starting right away, I doubt it's your fuel pump itself....usually they either work or they don't. I'd bet money that your fuel pressure regulator is failing. When they age/wear they tend to bleed off pressure so when you go to start it there isn't adequate pressure held at the fuel rail and so it takes an extended cranking time to fire it off. During that extended crank, the fuel pump is running to bring the pressure back up. To diagnose, try turning your ignition to 'ON' and not start and listen for the fuel pump (turn off fans, radio, etc). Once the pump stops humming, turn to 'START' and I'd bet it will fire much faster. Even cycling the key and pump a couple times can make it nearly instant. It's a common wear item on any modern fuel injected vehicle.

Just a little update. Replaced the fuel pump module, (interesting note for '04 to '06 Burb/Tahoe owners the fuel pump/fuel pressure regulator/fuel filter are all one "module" inside the tank, on 1/2 tons anyway) it starts as it should now. This week I put a set of Ford Torsion Keys off a junkyard '97 4x4 Expedition in, and 2" Ebay coil spacers on the rear. Finally got some new 17" wheels and a set of 285/70's put on yesterday and got it all aligned. I love it! It drives and rides awesome.

We put a little over 500 miles on it Memorial Weekend going up to the in-laws cabin in the Oachita Mountains of Arkansas. It did great, so far I'm pleased to have made the leap from Crew Cab pickup to Suburban. Time will tell though......

Just got it home last night. It is replacing the Jeep cherokee in front of it that we have simply outgrown. I will start a thread for it later.

1990 gmc v1500. 6/7" lift with springs and an ord 2 1/2 shackle flip. As it sits, stock axles and 33's. Acquiring a lot of parts for a total makeover. The photo chopped picture is blanking out my motorhome, it was just after I lifted it (same day). The other is in a park that my wife and I like to visit.

35's.
Runs great. I've been busy replacing window regulators and motors, Carpet, lights, and removing 2 decades of horrible wiring.......
I'm collecting metal for a new rear bumper, tire and fuel carrier, and the completion of my removable brush guard. I should be able to weld by the time I'm done.
At the moment my wife does the finish welding......Dad says my welds look like a bull's backside stitched shut with a grapevine.

Just purchased a trinary switch along with an aux electric cooling fan to help A/C while not moving. Bushwacker cut out fender flares to be installed and painted body color when truck gets a new look.

Nice Burb! Love that front bumper!

I wouldn't be hacking up perfectly clean virgin sheet metal to install a set of fender flares though :Wow1:. There are other flares on the market that do not require any cutting. You know, they don't make classis trucks anymore! I couldn't imagine taking a

to an old truck that clean unless the front fenders and rear quarters were rusty or have been replaced with aftermarket Taiwanese repoped pieces.

No the headlights are not out of adjustment, the high beams are set low as they are HID's

I have Xenon flares on my K10. They are pretty decent (SOB to install tho) and neither Xenon or the WARN's required classic sheet metal to be hacked to death :victory:

Please don't be that guy that hacks up perfectly clean sheet metal for the sake of only adding flares :exclaim: :sombrero:

I would love to do my 91 like that. If you could, would share some more pics of the cut and how the top hooks? If you do re-body, I would love to maybe pick up some of the conversion pieces and the top for a pattern if you part with it.

i just built a frame and covered it with a military 2 piece field tent. the cut was along the front edge of the rear window and along the bottom of the window. ripping it all off this weekend to redo it. will take some pics then.
